Just got the invvitation to my cousin's wedding and...
...it is addressed only to me. FH and I live together and are engaged for petes sake. Shouldn't it have been addressed to the both of us?? Even though the inside has both of our names, I feel that it should have been the both of us on the outside. Am I wrong?? What should I do when I have to address her envelope. ( i know what I'd like to do, but that wouldn't be lady like)

No, I totally agree with you. Since you live together, BOTH of your names should have been on the invitation envelope. What horrible wedding etiquette manners she has! She can learn a lesson or two from you Lisa! I'd love to tell you to do the same, but you are much better than that. (you could always put a picture of a horse's a$$ on the response card though )

actually i dont think it was too bad. it was probably easier for her just to write to 'ms.jane smith' instead of to 'ms.jane smith and mr. john doe',. you know what i mean? i think the only real important part is that his name was inside and it didnt say 'and guest'. i dont know, just my opinion.

ugh! i soo hear you! my friend did this to me for her wedding last summer. i was one of her BMs, so i was spending all kinds of money and doing all kinds of stuff for her wedding. she doesn't like my fiance, so when i got my invitation to her wedding it had my name ' and guest'... now come on!! luke and i were engaged for petes sake! she knew if i was bringing any one it would be him, so why didn't she just put his freakin name on there?! she later told me that ' it was her way of saying that she wasn't invitng my fiance to the wedding... even though i askd her several times if it was ok if i brought him... some people need to learn to get over themselves a little bit....

Normally I wouldn't be this sensitive about an invite, but she purposely called my mom to make sure we had the correct spelling of her fiance's last name for our guest list. AND they didn't invite FH to the prewedding bachelor party but my sisters boyfriend did get invited. Sorry I'm just fed up with them.

Probably, since you are not married yet. They are better off putting your name in it. They probably did not mean any harm by it.

If she forgot your FH entirely Id be upset, but think about all the stress us girls are going through getting married! Maybe she didn tknow he lived with you. I wouldnt be upset at all.
My cousin invited me but not my FH and we were flying to Florida together anyway, that was an oversight. Still I wouldnt be angry at all.

that is kind of weird. Maybe she is so caught up with wedding stuff she flaked out and forgot or something.

last summer FH best friend got married, we were engaged and we have lived together to for 2 years. They put his name on the invite and addressed me as fiance. i know them very well, not like i never met them. I was so mad, I made such an effort for my eparty to make sure i got everyone full name. I was mad for days. I mean it came to my house too and addressed like that. just irked me for days.

that happened to me last year with FSIL. I was so pissed, but ya know, some people don't really take the time to find out what is correct.
So, I'd be the bigger person and address them correctly when you send out your invite.

Perhaps my story will make you feel a little better. My fiance's brother got married in October. My friance proposed to me in September after a VERY long 'courtship.' We've been together 6 years longer than his brother and wife. Anyway, the invitation was sent to my fiance and GUEST! That part I probably could've overlooked; however, our seating card (nearly a month after our engagement) was written for my fiance and GUEST!

Normally I'd say get over it - But obviously there's more to the situation than you just being annoyed about an envelope ! - And I hear ya ! I have a cousin the EXACT same way - it's called spiteful ! And they bring out the worst in you .......things that would never in a million years bother you about someone else drive you insane about them - Totally understand !!!

Remember there is a thread out there about what etiquitts are you breaking, and alot of people posted alot of different ones. I think we all need to realize that other people too can break etiquit. Your just causing more stress for yourself being this upset. And ask yourself, is your FH upset. Because he is the one whos name was not on the outside envelope.
