Just got the invvitation to my cousin's wedding and...
Original post by angelbear217
...it is addressed only to me. FH and I live together and are engaged for petes sake. Shouldn't it have been addressed to the both of us?? Even though the inside has both of our names, I feel that it should have been the both of us on the outside. Am I wrong?? What should I do when I have to address her envelope. ( i know what I'd like to do, but that wouldn't be lady like)

I don't see anything wrong with what your cousin did. It would have been nice to include both of your names on the outside, but I don't think she did it to slight you. I mean she included his name on the inner envelope right?

People are just rude.
We got a TY card from FH's cousin for her wedding... 16 months after the wedding.
Dear Brett,
Thank you for sharing our special day.
Love, Jessica and George
HELLO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! What the F is that????
People just have no freaking manners.
Yeah, that was rude.

While it certainly wasn't the nicest thing, perhaps she wasn't 100% sure of the spelling of your fiancee's last name. Maybe she chose the lesser of the two evils and to save the embarrassment (of not knowing your future name) she did the invite the way she did. I'm DEFINITELY not a fan of it--but you should be the bigger person and address yours appropriately to her.

i know it sounds bad.. but on a few of our invites we would just put like mr. john doe and guest. which is probably mean.. but there were a few friends who we could NOT get in contact with within the last few weeks and couldn't get the proper spelling of the person they were living with.
hopefully that makes sense for us we figured it would be better to just write 'guest' then make up some last name for them.

I'm sorry, it does sound bad because she's your cousin. But just so you know, we received an invitation addressed to Anthony and Sasha MY LAST NAME. I was in shock! And fi's family always sends invites Mr. and Mrs. FH's HIS LAST NAME. No mention of me...I'm just the girl he's been engaged to for 4 years, dating for 9... At least his name was there...

i was just talking about this with my dad. there is a couple (they arent married, but do live together) that he is friends with and i asked what the womans last name was so that i could put it on the invite, and he said to just put mr. soand so & guest. I said well isnt that rude since i know who she is and i know her name. He said you never know what will happen in 12 weeks so you should put guest unless they are married. hope that makes you feel better.

Maybe they didn't know his last name? Or maybe they felt that since you werent married that only your name should be on the outside? I know that its old fashioned but maybe they were thinking along those lines?
Its a good thing he was on the inside...and not just 'guest' though! I hate people who do that!

I think people have different ways of thinking about things.....DH and I have been together for 7 years and even in the past year we have gotten some invites we both of names on the outside, some with only mine, and one (this is one month before we got engaged) that had my name and GUEST!
