just had a meeting w/hr

it was for a 6 month check-in thing. she asked me 'what do you like most about working here?' i was like uh-oh.... i don't really like my job here. it's boring and unchallenging. i strongly dislike several of my co-workers and am ambivalent about the others. plus my dept is completely isolated from the rest of the company so i don't get to meet other people. anyway, i had no idea what to say and i felt like a complete ***. oh well, hope i didn't get anyone in trouble.

I don't think you would have gotten anyone in trouble but you certainly didn't shed a positive light on yourself! You should have taken the opportunity to present it to her / him and see how you can make things better or at least tolerable.

oops sorry, that's what i was thinking. what i actually said was something like 'well, i don't really dislike anything, so i'm not sure i can pick out one thing i like best'. so she said, 'well a lot of people say the culture or the people'. i mentioned that i like my co-workers but that the department rarely socializes so i don't feel that i've made friends. i also mentioned that the legal dept is very isolated and that i haven't met people from other departments.

i just feel really stupid. b/c i really don't like this job and i wasn't expecting the question so i froze. ah well... i'll start thinking now for what to say on my 1 year check-up!
