Just in case anyone's considering a reception in NJ...

My FI and I considered having our reception in NJ before booking on LI. I just looked at the website of one of the places we considered (which was stunning). They offer special pricing for canceled dates and actually advertise the available dates. I was just on their website and they have a ton of available dates this year. When we were going to take advantage of a special pricing date, we were quoted $80pp for a Saturday night in July.

The place is gorgeous and has amazing grounds. Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone is considering NJ or knows someone who is. It's too great of a bargain for me not to share.

ETA: LOL, I forgot to mention the name of the place! It's The Tides Estate in North Haledon, NJ.
