Just made an appointment w/an infertility doctor

I really wish it didn't have to come to this - I'm pretty upset about this whole thing. I was hoping that we could get PG without any help, but this is month #7 of trying with no luck. My OB/GYN told me that I could call an infertility doctor now, given my age (almost 35).

AF is due on Tuesday and I did a First Response on Saturday and got a BFN, so I figured I might as well go see a specialist and not waste any more time.

Does anyone know what I should expect on the first visit?

My first appointment was not bad...they took some blood, did a sonogram, took my history, the day I went I was CD3 so I started on Clomid that day too.

Good Luck!! RE's really work, I got pregnant on my 3rd insemination.

Good Luck Ann I know that a lot of ladies here have had to go to a specialist /RE in order to deal with their fertility issues.. and have great success in conceiving.. I know you will too!

It all depends on what you have done test wise with your regular dr.
I had already gotten a HSG and been on clomid for 3 month before seeing the RE,
so at my first appointment,
We discussed ALL options,
and he did a exam,
and since I was already on clomid
we scheduled a IUI for the following weekend,
got pregnant on second IUI cycle.

We haven't had ANY testing done yet, so I just didn't know what to expect. I don't even know what an RE is!

I'm sorry Annie!!! But it is better to see a specialist than to waste valuable time. It will be OK...a lot of women just don't conceive right away and that doesn't mean that there are problems.

Good Luck and Stay Positive!! My best friend and her DH were trying for a year with no luck. They went to an infertility specialist to see what was wrong and it was something minor that was causing them not to get pregnant. She saw the Doctor 3 months ago and Called me last week to tell me she was 5 weeks pregnant. So stay positive and everything will work our fine!! Good Luck!!

My BF had to go to a fert. Dr. and now she had an absolute georgous 1 1/2 yr old son!

PS- after she visited the Dr. she got preggers the next month!
