I just got home after a grueling 28hour shift at the hospital (3rd year med resident). I am so tired yet I just can't help but think about the wedding and planning etc. I love doing what I do and helping people, but it just seems to consume all of my time. I find myself thinking about patients when I get home - when I should be sleeping! And I miss my FH sooooooo much. Maybe I should of stayed in MIA? Well okay, I'm done. I know I made the right decision - coming up north for residency. I just have to remember June 2008 is right around the corner (completion of program)Right? Anyway I am so glad I found this site, where we can all share our thoughts and provide eachother support. Brides to be - I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I am going to sleep now.

Re: Just needed to vent
I can relate. I'm not a nurse and I don't do 28 hour shifts! How do you do that?
I bring my job home daily. Sleep is often difficult because my students are at the front of my mind. Will so and so actually get to bed tonight? Will his mom or her dad scream at them this morning?
Helping people, teaching - it's hard and a huge stress on all of us emotionally. June 2008 is so much closer than we all think.
I wish you sweet peacful dreams!

Re: Just needed to vent
I don't work your hours, but I do know how hard it is to balance things in life when there are so many things you want to do. Try not to bring work home with you, although I know it is easier said than done. Consider your home a safe haven from all things bad, stressful and unwanted. Give yourself a couple of hours everyday where you just think about what brings you joy (i.e., your wedding, your honey, and your accomplishments). And of course, come here whenever you need to vent or celebrate the things happening in your life. We are always here to listen.
I hope you have sweet dreams and wake up well rested and refreshed.

I can kinda relate. I'm a nurse. I work 12 hour shifts tho not 28 hours! I don't know how you guys do that! I remember one time a resident telling me that she was soo stressed out that she forgot to rinse the shampoo out of her hair when she was in the shower. I sometimes find myself thinking about patients when I am home too. But I tell myself I did all I could for that patient when I was at work and now I have to leave it there. Hang in there! 2008 will be here before you know it and it will all be worth it!
