Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
Thinking of what, if anything I would have done differently - and i come up with nothing but one little little thing. 2 potential vendors called me the night before the wedding to confirm that I was not in fact using them. I really felt badly - that I should have called them way prior. Obviously I wasn't using them, and they certainly knew that - because like I said they called me the night before - they called i believe to make a point, and the point was taken. That's it - thought I'd share.

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
Had you left any money with these vendors? Or spoke to them close to the wedding?

How weird, and imo rude. If any vendor does that to me the day before my wedding, they're going to get an earful. I'd say, yeah customer service skills like these helped me in my decision not to use you.

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
And i do agree with you guys 100%! I should have just been more clear on not using them - because to be honest with you, these 2 vendors I knew right away I wasn't going to use them - I just felt bad telling them! And ONE WAS A RABBI!

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
OK, I am confused, I am supposed to call each vendor and tell them I am not using them, after our appts. I thought not calling and not signing contracts meant just that... Am I wrong?

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
OK, Jennbaby, so I am normal and those two vendors are the ones that are weird. Although our rabbi does not have a contract and we did tell him that we're using him for the service...No way I am calling all those photographers that I saw, especially the rude ones

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
I had a limo company that I never went to contract with show up at my door the day i got married. I was shopping around and this one particular company wrote down some of my info. I told them I was looking around.Anyway, my bell rings the day of my wedding, I assumed it was my limo company. My dad went to check it out and eventually we discovered it was the other company.
I was laughing when I came out and saw all these Rolls Royces!

Merv, are you serious? Some limo company actually sent all these Rolls to your house without a deposit or contract? Get out!

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
OMG Merv I can't BELIEVE that!!?!?!?!? I'm sorry but I will NOT call each vendor to tell them I'm not using them and considering there was no contract signed you'd think they got the point. They better not bother me the week of my wedding..let alone the night before!!

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
Why would a vendor call you the day before you're getting married to confirm that you're not using them??? Do these vendors have a lot of free time that they can call of these people that visited them to make sure that they DON'T have their business? I don't know about you, but that is not a good sign of their business!

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
the same thing happened to me...a vendor from this board called me 2 days before my wedding to make the 'last minute arrangements'....i thought they were insane, and i said 'believe me, if i was planning to use you i would signed a contract and made all the final arrangements by now'....sooooo bizarre!!

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
I have vendors who I have not even met yet calling me and they cant accept no for an answer. One video company sent me a demo tape and for a demo tape it was horrible. I dont have the heart to tell them sorry not interested. They were so kind as to send me a demo tape. They constantly call me and say so can we get you in this weekend for an appointmet.Thank goodness for caller Id. I see there name and i dont answer the phone.
Why are vendors so pushy?? Things like that make me not want to go with them.
I went to one hall and the women was like ok so you saw everything are you ready to go back to the office and sign the contract. FI was like well we need to discuss a few things, we'll call you. 2 days later she called me and gave me the well you know halls are very popular and you need to make these decions soon. I told her when I am ready I'll call her. She hasnt called me ever again.

Re: Just one quick thought from a newlywed!
Ladies, I am not kidding! Between my rolls and the other company's rolls, I could have escorted my extended family to the wedding.
I did feel bad for the drivers, but part of me thought it was sneaky of the owner. Say I got in and drove off before my dad noticed. YIKES!
