How many halls did you look at before deciding on the one you booked? Just curious! :)

Re: Just out of curiousity...
Wow... everyone looked at a lot of places :) We actually only went to the one cuz we have been to over 10 weddings in the last 10 years and knew we either wanted it at Chateau La Mer or Villa Lombardis. Once we went and got the info we knew Villa Lombardis couldn't beat the price so we just booked... I'm very happy with my decision tho :) We were there about 7 years ago and have always loved it!

We looked at because I had done a lot of research beforehand - Riviera and Vineyard Caterers. We loved Vineyard Caterers!

Re: Just out of curiousity...
We saw a total of five but Milleridge was first - we pretty much only saw the other four because we already had appointments. I'm hoping it works this way with my dress too.
ETS: We saw:
Milleridge Cottage Chateau La Mer Riviera Jericho Terrace Sail Harbor

Maybe about 20, including a bunch of weddings we had gone to within a year that were places we would have considered.

Re: Just out of curiousity...
looked at three - I had been to a wedding at Westbury Manor and pretty much figured on booking there, but went to two others first to get an idea of what different halls offered.
since a number of you mentioned Watermill, I have to write that my sister had her wedding there in July of 2003 and it was absolutely wonderful! The place is just gorgeous!!

Re: Just out of curiousity...
CLM was the 3rd one we looked at and we knew when we left. FH kept saying, 'We know what we want, why are we still looking?' Just to be sure--we've gone to 6million places for all our vendors. Only Villa Lombardis (which was the last place we looked at) came close. FH is Italian and loves Villa Lombardis, but several people in his family were already married there and I wanted something different. I couldn't be happier and Nick & George have been wonderful so far, which was a big reason we booked. FH calls the cocktail hour room the Miami Vice room

6
Chateau La Mer (too far up island) Fox Hollow (friend got married there wanted something different) Miller Place Inn (very nice, but too small) Majestic Gardens (not my style but very nice) Gurney's INN (loved it but way too much $$$)
ESTATE AT EAST WINDS
I fell in love with the Estate because it is so personal.. Its very classy and elegant, but still quaint.. I also LOVED that the Inn is steps away

It was our first and only Villa Lombardis was the only other place we considered seeing but knew the price would never match up. I am SOOO happy with our decision :) We need to make Chateau La Mer thread

Re: Just out of curiousity...
We only looked at 4 others besides Chateau. I think Chateau was the 2nd one but we felt like we had to look at others to compare but we kept coming back there because we thought they had the most to offer for the money.
We're also very happy with our decision, and i second the need for a Chateau La Mer thread! :)

Re: Just out of curiousity...
We considered the following:
Land's End- out of our budget Riverview- too small West Sayville Country Club- didn't like the layout Chateu La Mer Riviera
FH has worked at the Riviera before so we choice them. I can't wait!!!!

Re: Just out of curiousity...
None!! I had pretty much known before we got engaged that we wanted to have the wedding at Giorgios. We wanted a place that wasn't where our friends or family got married, we didnt' have a prom and someplace where we could take pix on the beach. Since we are in CA, we new it would be hard to go looking at places anyway. I knew of people who had their weddings there and they raved about the food and service. After seeing a bunch of pix and video, we put the deposit down and when we finally saw it in person in Dec, we knew it was perfect!
