I am not Indian, but love wearing Indian clothes ... FH is wearing a western version of the Indian Wedding Suit, it is so gorgeus! It is in black with the nice embroidery in the neck and the middle of the jacket!

aimdom ~ indian weddings are actually week long events. so there'll be a few parties before and after .. the reason we're having two receptions is cuz my parents are throwing one here in cali where i live, and FH and his parents are throwing one on long island for their family/friends. each party will have about 400 people!

Hi girls! Here is the suit, he got it at an Indian tailor in Queens, I am putting 3 pictures.
sonia that dress is slamming you're gonna be gorgeous !!!!! There are so many beautiful sarries (sp? sorry) I saw at my girlfriends wedding (she is Indian too) and that one is one of the most gorgeous !!!!
FH just got his ordered too .. can't wait to see what it's going to look like!

Sonia, that dress is the bomb!! I'm marrying an Asian guy and I too have several dresses. Are you going to wear that head jewel, it is so beautiful. And you are having the henna paint on your hands right? That painting is so gorgeous. About the tummy, you can always wear a body shaper--Victoria's Secret has them if you really need one.

Thanks Sonia! I think yours is beautiful as well! My mom is going to Bangladesh this spring, so she's going to see if she can get what I want there. She's going to have to take my measurements with her... My mom and I have the same taste, so I'm not too worried about her picking the langa. If not, we can go to Jackson Heights (Little India) in Queens. My FH is American but is going to wear traditional Indian wedding clothes for the Bengali reception. Similar to avesur's pics.
Where are you getting your langa? How's the wedding planning going?

Farah ~ thats awesome that you trust your mom to get your outfit. hehe i cant trust anyone. my MIL just got back and brought me two fancy outfits even though i told her not to! but i'll give in and wear one at the NY reception for her my mom and i are going to india in april to shop (hopefully!) wedding planning is stressful!! just made an awesome to do list on excel tho .. maybe thatll motivate me hehe.
