Just starting out

Original post by PhyllisNJoe

Hi all,

I just got engaged in April and am about to start planning the wedding. I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me answer.

I don't know where to start! We are (of course) planning on a budget - it seems everyone is these days-trying to keep it at 20-25k.
So with that... I would LOVE to be able to book something for under $100 pp. Our guest list is over 200 right now, but I will be chopping that down soon. Trying to get it to 150 at most. We have a small bridal party and will be married on-site, so I think we can save on transportation (I hope). I'm trying to find a hall that includes the cake, centerpieces (including flowers or not, maybe candelabras for the flowers), and chair covers. We are going to look at Chateau La Mer this weekend and Lombardi's on the sound next.

Can anyone recommend a hall that is reasonable without being 'cheap'? Keep in mind, we're Italian and need good food!

Also DJ, Flowers, Photography/Video, Make-up - Basic pkgs.

Any info. would be great. I need to start somewhere!

Thanks,
Phyllis

Re: Just starting out

I booked last week with the Fox Hollow for June 6, 2010. The prices I thought were reasonable and I enjoyed the entire experiance meeting with the banquet manager. There was none of the bs with the VIP package or Silver package nonesense.

Fri - $75 pp
Sat - afternoon - $70 pp
Sat Evening $98 pp
Sunday afternoon - $72pp
Sunday evening - $70pp
Ceremony $650 flowers for ceremony included and the clergy is $400.

The basic package includes a choice of 10 hot choices / carving stations and white glove service passing out hordeuvres during the cocktail hours. Dinner you get a choice of appetizer and salad or can choose the d the duet which is a combo of the salad and appetizer. Dinner your guest get a choice of six entrees. The wedding cake is included and you also get to choose a dessert for your guests. Open bar and I also think you get a cordial bar during dessert. The vienesse hour is $15 extra pp and the seafood boad is $12 extra pp.

I ended up booking a Sunday evening and added the vienesse and seafood boat but I am trying to keep my wedding to 100 people at most.

The Swan Club was my 2nd choice, they had great packages as well and the grounds are gorgeous!

Fri- $70pp
Sat Day - $65pp
Saturday night - $98 and they were going to include the vienesse hr in that price
Sunday Day or Evening- $65
Ceremony Fee - $600 which included flower for your ceremony. The clergy can run anywhere from $350 to $1000.(that is what they told me)

Wedding cake and dessert are also included in the above.

You can add the vienesse to any package and it is only $7pp extra. The seafood boat was $20 but you get lobster in the boat that is why it is so much $$.

I am still looking for a photographer and DJ.

Verdi of Westbury has great food and they have great prices

What time of year, If you get married between Jan-Feb it is the cheapest.

Leonards of Great Neck

My biggest advice is to say right away we have a tight budget of $100(pp with taxes)what can you do for us.

Flowers: Design by Rose, La Blossam, and Flowers by Gina

Leonards of great neck Swan Club & Fox Hollow.. For the most part you will find a great price at these three places.. $75.00 and up!

I also rec Design by Rose 200% ( she will work with you & your budget ) & Ultimate Sound DJ
Pedestals is very good but a little expensive sometimes...

You will also get alot of great advice on these boards! The girls are great! Congrats

Re: Just starting out

I know Windows on the Lake will probably give you a package deal for under $20k which includes pretty much EVERYTHING...

Other halls you can check for under $100pp depending on the time of year are East Wind, Smithtown Landing, Meadow Club, Giorgios, and Westbury Manor.

Are you only looking for RH's in LI? Russo's on the Bay gave me a great price of $85 for a Jan Friday night wedding in their smaller room. If you are keeping it to 150 or even 125 then that can be doable. If you book on a Friday or Sunday or during an off month Dec, Jan, Feb. March you can get a better price at most places.

Congrats!!!

For the price your looking at i'd check out..

The Swan Club (75 p/person, least expensive)
Floral Terrace
The Fountainhead (New Rochelle)
Chateau La Mer
Venetician Yacht Club
Douglaston Manor
Marina Del Rey - Bronx(100 p/person, top of ur price range)

Everything else falls inbetween./

HTH

Oh, these prices are for a Fri in Sept. at Douglaston Manor you can do a Sat night wedding for about 100 too.

Floral Terrace is only under $100pp if you book and afternoon wedding. They said that they charge for nights and there is not a difference with what night. A thursday night was $120 and Sat and Sunday night was $130 and goes up depending on what you want. If you get married in the afternoon its under $100. The Fountainhead was above your price range too. My friend looked at it and said she got rates above $100 pp

Re: Just starting out

Congrats first of all!

I went to a wedding at the Swan Club last summer and it was very nice and my friend said very reasonably priced.
My cousin was married a few years ago at the Milleridge in Jericho, and it included everything basically. She got the cake and flowers from them and it was really pretty. I honestly can't remember the price, but it could be worth looking in to.
HTH!!
