I just got engaged in April and am about to start planning the wedding. I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me answer.
I don't know where to start! We are (of course) planning on a budget - it seems everyone is these days-trying to keep it at 20-25k. So with that... I would LOVE to be able to book something for under $100 pp. Our guest list is over 200 right now, but I will be chopping that down soon. Trying to get it to 150 at most. We have a small bridal party and will be married on-site, so I think we can save on transportation (I hope). I'm trying to find a hall that includes the cake, centerpieces (including flowers or not, maybe candelabras for the flowers), and chair covers. We are going to look at Chateau La Mer this weekend and Lombardi's on the sound next.
Can anyone recommend a hall that is reasonable without being 'cheap'? Keep in mind, we're Italian and need good food!
Also DJ, Flowers, Photography/Video, Make-up - Basic pkgs.
Any info. would be great. I need to start somewhere!
Thanks, Phyllis

Re: Just starting out
We stopped into Fox Hollow when we were looking at places and they were VERY reasonably priced, it was just over $100 (maybe $115?) from what I remember, we were impressed by the prices. Not sure what type of place you're looking for, but you might want to check them out. The prices might be even better depending on what day of week and month you're looking for. Good luck!

I think Chateu Le Mer is a great place to start. What day are you getting married (Fri, Sat or Sun), night or day? Those things have a lot to do with price. So if you are flexible on the day of the week and the time you could get the price you are looking for.

I absolutely love my RH...Westbury Manor!! I can tell you that I paid under $100pp (FM for further info if you want). Both families are Italian so food was the number one priority. We loved the menu and they give you so much for the price. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend.

Edt to add: we went to Chateau La Mer and it was beautiful.. there food seemed good but I never tried it

Re: Just starting out
I am getting married in September 2010, and I am having a Friday wedding at Villa Lombardi's, ours is $94.95 per person. I LOVE the food there (I am not italian lol so I make no promises) That includes the cake, but no flowers or chair covers (I actually didnt mind the chairs they had). Hope this helps!

Re: Just starting out
Welcome and congrats!
I see you're checking out Lombardi's on the Sound...they do not include centerpieces, and they tend to be more expensive than Villa Lombardi's because they are a single event at a time venue.
Villa Lombardi's, depending on the day and time of year is pretty reasonable. My price PP is under $100 before the upgraded dessert bar I added, tax, and gratuity, and it's for a Saturday night with a low minimum (125) in December. I still feel that it's been my greatest coup of the wedding planning thus far! I would definitely check in to Villa over the Sound, based on the pricing, and I've also found the food to be a tad better there as well, having eaten at both and been at numerous events at both. They also offer special packages for Sunday afternoon weddings in the summer at a very reduced rate, and all it eliminates is like the passed hors d'oeuvres and maybe 2 hot dishes for cocktail hour.
Good luck!

Re: Just starting out
Congrats!
Well, I know from experience that both Chateau LaMer and Lombardis on the Sound are fabulous.
I booked Lombardis on the Sound because they have great food, and met all my criteria, however, they weren't cheap, so the hall became our 'splurge' our budget went from $20-$25K to $30K almost instantly...and we aren't going crazy.
I would have booked Chateau La Mer, but my best friend JUST got married there...so they were out. (even though they gave me a much better price at $75pp for a Sunday)
I fell in LOVE with Jerico Terrace (also $75pp for a Sunday)...the only reason I didn't go with them was because I wanted an outdoor ceremony. So DEFINITELY visit them if you want great food!
Any questions I'm here to help

RH recs: (price might change depending on what day of week/season you're looking for)
The Sterling Leonard's Sunset Harbour Majestic Gardens Larkfield Manor Fox Hollow Coral House Westbury Manor Thatched Cottage
I'm not going to say I liked all of these, some I did not like at all. But that's a matter of personal preference. If you're interested in an out of state wedding, here's a few in Connecticut:

Re: Just starting out
Welcome and Congratulations!!! You'll get a lot of help and info on this site!
As for RH, I can't offer any helpful info for what you are looking for.
To keep within your budget, make sure to allocate $ before you start to look and book. You can easily exceed your budget. Figure out what is most important to you.
DJ - Check out Party Up Productions. Very cost effective and they did an amazing job.
Photo/Video - A little pricey but I highly recommend Imagine Studios. FYI - pictures last forever so this may be an area you want to splurge in
Makeup - Marie Katz. She did a great job for me. There is an awesome pic of my eyes on Imagine Studios website. Click here for their site Go to Recent Weddings. Camille and Troy.
If you need a Limo - I recommend Paradise Limousines. They are reliable and cheaper than most of the quotes you will get through vendors here.
And another area I recommend splurging...a DOC! (Day of Coordinator) Laura from LA Productions. She's amazing.

Re: Just starting out
Welcome and Congratulations!!!!
You may have to consider a different date and most likely a Fri night or day for 150 ppl at under a $100 pp - tax / tip inclusive?
Definitely try Swan Club, Fox Hollow and you can look into Med Manor and Brentwood Country Club, Thatched Cottege or Windows on the Lake. They have some packages and / or are flexible.
Flowers...try Flowers & Designs by Gina - she is able to work with most budgets, is extremely sweet, professional and super responsive. She has great ideas too
Photos.... try www.nickgphoto.com www.amessinaphoto.com Even though most places will try to work with your budget. I am using.... www.truelovewedding.com
DJ - FM Entertainment In the Mix LI Sounds
Favors - consider charity
Consider many DIY projects / unity candles, place cards, menus, invites, etc.
dress: look around....shop a large store with huge selections like RK Bridal and Kleinfeld so you get an idea on the style you prefer and then shop around for that style....
