just thinking..

just thinking..

so here is something i've been thinking about for a while.. most of us have been planning these weddings for a year plus.. save the dates have been sent out or are going out, then invitations months in advance.. so how do you feel when people say no? like how do you not take it personally?

i know that since everyone i know has SOOO much notice, i'm gonna be offended to get no rsvps. i know i shouldn't and that things come up.. but what do you girls think? like what is your state of mind?

Im hoping for NOs. I am inviting about 165 and my minimum is 120 I WANT 120.

You cant take it personally weddings are alot...
if they have kids they need a babysitter
ladies like to wear new dresses
and financially maybe they cant afford a gift

there are lots of reasons people cant come and im sure it is nothing personally against you (you really only want people at your wedding that wanna be there)

Good Luck

i've been VERY upset for the FAMILY members who have said no. They all have good enough reasons but i can't change the fact that it hurts a LOT to know that my Godmother won't be there for my wedding day....a LOT!!!!!!!!!

Friends - it hurts just a little - nothing major...but it's still there....

Im not offended that some people cant make it. Im more offended at the people are are coming who didnt have the decency to RSVP and then when I called were like 'Of course were coming' Thats ANNOYING and IM getting pissed just thinking about it.

depends on what guest is saying no, if it is a guest I have close ties with then I would be disapointed- but if it is a a guest that I had to invite for 'politic reasons' then i wouldnt care so much

oh man its so hard, I am prepared for my out of town guests to not come.

It stinks, someone told me they had a wedding the same day as mine, at first i was like oh man, and then i thought about it...and was like you know what thats life...people have other obligations, and my wedding is not the event of the year lol

ETA: the person who has the wedding the same nite as mine, well their wedding is 3 weeks after mine.
If they rsvp no to mine, should i still go to theirs?

as horrible as it sounds, i want to get No's. I am sure when push comes to shove and I start receiving the Nos i will get upset by certain Nos, but i have to wait and see. Ask this again in September/October!

Some of FH's family is notorious for not RSVPing and then showing up. I already told both my mom and FMIL that when the invitations go out, if people start telling them that they are going by word of mouth, that I want them to take responsibility for making sure people send back the response cards.
I'm so anal about being organized with these things that I would probably start harassing people

Ditto, less money out of my pocket.

yes - i had thought i would be happy with the no's would make me happy - but i was wrong..... we have a VERY small family (no joke, on my side, there are 8 blood relatives total and 4 are my mom, dad, brother & me).....so the fact that we don't have these huge family get together things EVER makes weddings important.

It also is not helping that my brother was married 3 years ago and EVERYONE in the world came to that....

i think its rude if you really don't want to go to an event and you get a std and don't write or call up saying listen I appreciate the thought be we know we will not be attending.

I really know there are few friends/family who are not going to show and we wished they were honest from the begining then we could of made room for more friends instead of cutting them out.

the only person who i would be sad that didn' show would be my friend crystal who declined her invite to my shower and hasn't written me since then even though I emailed her. That means she is no longer my friend if she doesn't come.

I'm hoping for no's also. My wedding is out of town so I am expecting it. It's hard for people to travel and to stay over....Even though you give enough notice it doesn't change the fact that some have other engagments (ie other weddings) or kids who they can't or won't leave....lots of things..
