just thought of something

just thought of something

FH & I are both changing our last names when we get married to 'Marx-Sherman' or 'Sherman-Marx.' I'm guessing some people will ask why, and I'm just really 'politically left' I think, and to me it's an 'equal' way, that's all.

Anyway, when people write us checks, they are probably going to write Eric and/or Jennifer Sherman. How are we going to cash them since 'Sherman' isn't going to be either of our last names?

Do we add a little note with the invite like hey our last name is going to be this

I think it should be fine since it was originally his name.

I think if you deposit the checks before you officially change your names you will be fine.

I wrote my friend's check to Jane and John Doe - she didn't become Mrs. Doe officially for a loooooooooong time after the wedding - and they had no problems with the check.

Just deposit the checks before you change your names.

11er crashing.

The bank will usually just have you sign your names both ways. I worked at a credit union for a number of years and that's what we used to have everyone do when they had a different last name. It shouldn't be a problem!

If you open/have a joint account before the wedding day it will also make it easier
