Just want to get something off my chest about Gas Prices...VENT

Just want to get something off my chest about Gas Prices...VENT

Before they started going up there were several media reports about the prices. At least 3 of them said... 'Prices to reach at least $3.00 by the end of the summer'

Ok.. So $3.00 by the end of the summer.. with prices taking lots of hops in the beginning, to level off only for a short while then keep moving back up until at LEAST $3, if not more, but probably not more than $4.

Does this suk? Yep, sure does.. but do we KNOW about it already? Yes, we do.

Why then do I have to hear about 'Gas Prices on the rise' every other day on the news? Why not just say 'Its not done yet, as we've been telling you for the past month, these prices won't stop rising until at least $3.00'

Increments are better than slapping me with a $1.50 increase, right? Why is it 'news' that the prices are going up?

Is there nothing else to report? I'm so fed up with this. Yes, gas is expensive. Carpool, take mass transit or just PAY for it. A gallon of gas is still cheaper than a gallon of milk.

We have two cars. I NEVER let mine go under a half tank and Jim drives his daily. Cars are a luxury to us, we know that. It's necessary for him to get to and from work but it's also necessary to put gas in that car. Do I like paying over $20 to fill my tiny tank when it used to cost $9? Not really, but that's just part of the deal with owning a car. Just like I hate that insurance is more than twice what I used to pay in Texas and yet I still fully cover my car because it means that much to me.

What's the big deal? Gas is gonna go up .. and NO Mr. Schumer dipping into reserves is NOT going to reduce it. It's not the Oil that's expensive, it's the refinement of it!

Bah

*hops off soap box*

Watch me whine and complain when it's $3.10. Until then, this is all been said to me before, no amount of screaming, whining or reporting this fact is gonna change it.

No point of complaining.....If you want to complain so much, then do it in your own time when you are alone...That is how I feel. I too am tired of hearing about it in the news....or on tv. What I do is I look for the cheapest gastation that I can find and I got there. Yesterday I got gas at AAMCO in Lynbrook on Sunrise hwy because 87 was $2.17. I usually get gas at EXXOn but it is up to $2.29.

The good news is the Saudis said they are going to up production.

I wouldn't mind hearing about it on the news if they really told people the truth- that oil is a finite resource and that we should all conserve and buy vehicles that are gas effecient....

But no, Ford, GM- they wouldn't like that b/c then they wouldn't sell anymore of their big honking SUVs.

I was somewhere yesterday and it was $2.13. Just can't right now remember where. I seem to always spot a cheaper price the day my tank reads 'F'

*shrug*

Still I hear it's higher in California.

I guess Im just tired of seeing it everday on the news like it's the new form of Weather Broadcasting.

You even get a little Map with dots to show major cities and their 'temp' or Gas prices. Some stations show '+/-' indicators just like weather forcasting. This has gone to far, IMO.

Unfortunately it's inevitable. European countries are up to $4 or $5 for a liter.

And just for the record both Ford and Chevy are working together (if you can believe that) to make a hybrid engine for their big honking SUVs.

This is typical though - every single news story imaginable is beaten to death.

Remember last year's hurricaine coverage? It was all over the news for weeks, it hits not as hard as was 'predicted' and then after the 'after the hurricaine' story lines, the media spent another few days talking about the unnecessary panic caused by the extensive coverage.

That is exactly why I sold my truck.......and I LOVED my truck.... I have more pics of my truck than of DH!
But I did not like spending $75 a week for gas (and that is not even an exaggeration!) The month that my gas card bill exceeded my car payment is when I decided to sell her....... I'm still not quite over it, but I refuse to spend over $1000 a month on a car that is not a Mercedes!
(Gives soapbox back to Xel.)

The cheapest place in town here in San Diego is $2.25 for regular! :o) Thank goodness I'm moving to the city next Wednesday and leaving my car behind back in CA!

I heard those are harder to put out in the event of a fire (the hybrids)... wonder what the deal is with that.

The battery/fuel cell probably gets too hot or the wiring isn't properly insulated. Fires, electrical fires especially, are never fun.

In a way.. it's ironic.

We've always know there were better ways to fuel a vehicle than gas.. but no one really bothered to explore it enough to make it affordable. Then it was affordable. Hybrids have been out for awhile.

Still, no one cared enough to consider them.

Now with the gas 'too high' folks are finally paying attention to hybrids. That's a good thing, it just took this to get there. But I bet you if the gas got cheaper those same folks would go right back to gas-guzzling.

*shrug* Damned if you do.. damned if you don't.
