Just wanted to say thank you!!!

So as most of you know I started a post a couple days ago about FH and him wanting to deploy to Iraq with his unit in March 2008. Well he would have to extend till Nov 25th 2008 if he wanted to go. But his unit will be home in the end of Oct 2008 and he needs 2 weeks atleast to sign out of the whole Marine Corps. So he would definitely be home before Nov 25th but that i just to make sure its safe and not saying he will be home Oct 30th and he doestn come home until Nov 5th or something.

Well last night FH told me he made his decision. Now I did have a very long talk with him. I took all your great advice and told him to speak to his family and see what they say- his brother b*tched him out telling him not to go but lol said it seems like he made up his mind so just go if you want. And I talked to him telling him I support whatever decision he makes but I don't want to have to make the decision for him because I don't want him to regret anything we decide or I decide or he decides. So I told him of course I don't wnat him going but its for safety reasons not because of the wedding. And FH understands that but he told me last night that it is just something he feels he needs to do. And although he made a commitment to me he didn't want to regret it later down the road that he didn't get to deploy to Iraq. And he also told me it also has to do with his meaning of being a Marine- he feels its his duty etc and I can't really understand since I am not a Marine (which is very understandable I dont get why people want to experience war).

But with that said we are most likely switching our wedding date to December 20th 2008. And I wanted to say thank you all soooo much for helping me and giving me such great advice. And please dont think my FH is selfish I told him to make the ultimate decision which well in the end his decision makes me sad but it makes me feel better that I am not making him regret anything and I could care less if we need to push the wedding back as long as I know I will have him home for good in well 13 months then I am happy!!!

Aw ...The day before FHs b-day.

So glad things worked out. He is going to respect you so much for not giving him a hard time with this. And although it will be tough for you it will make you both so much stronger.

Dec 20th is my Mom's Bday! Thats a great day. . .and it will be such a happy time for everyone, between your wedding and the holidays! It will all work out okay

I wish him andn you the best of luck. I must say i applaud you ... i will admit i could never deal with this and i give you so much credit in being able to make your realationship work!!!

yeah he actually is going to come home for the holidays but he wont be able to come home again right before he deploys in March. he said he would rather spent the holidays with his family then 2 weeks in March when I am in school as well as his brother (he is a teacher) so for xmas and nye he will be home! it will be hard knowing he doesnt get to come home right before he deploys but i cant be that selfish haha

Just think, a few days ago, you weren't going to se him until what, next summer? Now you get to see him in 2 1/2 months!

thank you!! i try to be respectful of his decision it is hard dont get me wrong haha and i felt like just pouring my heart out to him last night about how hard it is to wait for him and how i dont mind doing it because i love him but it is soo hard and i dont want to have to wait longer- but he has alerady heard me sob to him about that i didnt want to mkae him feel worse

Catie I am glad you let him make this decision without 'naggy him' -- I don't get the whole marine mentality either but it is something to respect and not question.

I know this isn't going to easy and that pushing the wedding date back was never the issue. I give you a lot of credit -- you are strong woman!

We will all pray his for his speedy and safe return!
