Just wanted to share...

Yes, my fiance and I have been together for almost 8 years, and we've been planning for our wedding for next August for 3 months already, but as of last night we are officially engaged! He first asked me to marry him when we were 16 and only going out 5 months, but last night was official. He had the bedroom decorated with candles. He asked me to get his cigarettes out of the bedroom and after I opened the door and saw the candles, I turned around and he was on his knee with the ring. It was so sweet. I was so happy. He's been busting my chops about getting a ring, but I wasn't sure if he really did or not. But I'm glad he did! He was never able to buy one over the years, because we couldn't afford one. You can tell he's so proud of himself, and so am I. I can't wait to get married, I love him so much!!! :o)

Melissa - Congrats!!

We basically traveled a somewhat similar road. My fiance and I knew we were going to get married. After just a few months of dating, he bought me a pre-engagement ring ... something he could afford with the promise that one day we would officially be engaged than married. It took several years, but was definitely worth it. Now, after being engaged for a couple of years to save more money, we`re in the middle of wedding planning. Best Wishes and Congrats! Was your family driving you nuts asking when it was going to happen?

Oh yeah, our parents were definitely bugging us. Especially mine. Now, they're happy. Well, we haven't told his parents yet. Actually no one knows except my parents and you guys! :)

I am so happy for you!! Sounds like we are in similar situations-my fi & I have been together almost 9 years, started planning last August for our wedding next April and fi just officially proposed two weeks ago.
