Just wanted to share...
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a Holiday Party at my Reception Hall, Woodwinds with FH & my parents. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made.
I don't know if anyone else on LIW has ever gotten married there or ever will, but if anyone is ever considering it in the future, hopefully this thread will pop up for her to read!
I was nervous about the CH...in CT they do things a bit differently I guess...and our stations at the CH are Tuscan Bruschetta, Fresh Fruit, Vegetable Crudite, and Assorted Cheeses +++ 10 Hot Passed H'ourdeverersasdeadea (however it's spelt!) They have other hot station and a seafood cascade...which we might add on later...depending on what our budget looks like.
I was nervous that the waitstaff would not be around enough and people would get very hungry...NOT the case at all. Literally no more than 2 minutes would go buy without a tray of food coming our way. And everything was simply delicious....we especially loved the bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, and the french onion soup bowls. Deliciousssss.
There were b/t 150-200 people there, and we had half the room b/c there was a wedding on the other side. No wait at the bar, plenty of room, no waiting for food...For our wedding, we will have 300 people, so we'll have the entire thing. So double the space, double the servers, double the bar.
Then we went inside...the party was mostly corporate...so when they announced the companies, they also welcomed 'Jen Marx & Family!' which I thought was really cute/funny.
We also had champagne (which they kept refilling for us!), and bottles of wine on our table. No one else did-except one of their preferred vendors' tables. They must've rememberd when I said I was having my wedding there!
My mom made friends with the Matre'd Scott...he has been a Matre'd for 25 years, and every vendor we met with in CT couldn't stop raving about him. Aside from that, he is a doll. He is so wonderful. We even chatted with him about beer pong haha.
The main course was a buffet...and everything they had would be a choice for us. The prime rib was absolutely out of this world. Everything was delicious, but that prime rib completely stuck out. We are def having that as our beef choice. The potatoes were also amazing...they were seasoned so perfectly. I didn't have the salad or the chicken marsala, but my parents raved. And the fish-stuffed something i 4get lol- was delicious!
The Venetian Spread was great...Italian pastries & Bindi cakes...everything was fresh and delicious. We'll also be having cordials at ours.
The ONLY problem the whole night was that there were some bathroom issues...the hot water was not working for a bit, and the toilets were only flushing one at a time for a bit. I'm going to e-mail them and ask what was going on there, but honestly it's a relatively minor issue. It would've been much worse if the food was bad.
Also, we decided on our hotel block... we just have to officially book it...and my parents are renting a room at the hotel and having pastries, bagels, donuts, etc. brought in from a bakery for our Morning After Breakfast! Yey!
