Re: Just wondering.....

I ignore everyone and do what I want (unless the advice is good ).

I'm the queen of 'nod and smile'.

Print out the tons of articles about SIDS, even show them your halo sleep sak. It says it right there on it.
Then do not allow them to ever put your child to bed until they respect how important it is.
Other things you will hear:
-schedule only feedings
-give water bottles
-put a bit of cereal in the bottle at a few weeks old

Sue I think this is one of the hardest things to deal with when it comes to in-laws. My mother is being amazing -like 'we did this back then, but I know it's all different now...' She has kept up to date with child rearing through the years and in fact always felt it was not a good idea to put a baby on its' belly to sleep, and would tell all her friends not to! Back in the late 60's! (she was ahead of the curve...)

My in-laws are a different story...

The baby needs water
The baby should have socks on
You can start her on cereal at this many months
and so on...

I got really good advice I think from Christine, to just blame it on the doctor. Be like - listen my doctor said and that is what I go with. Its hard though - and it feels really critical (and it IS -= they are TRYING to say you are doing it wrong which is annoying...)
