just wondering??

oh so this may come out the wrong way but im just wondering.

My mom and dad bought me and FH a precious moments and our everyday china (correll) 8 place settings as our engagement gift. Because we are not having a e-party they did it at their own pace but it was such a nice gift. Just about all of my family has sent us a nice $$ gift in the mail.

Now heres my ?...FH family hasnt bought us a gift not even a card. Only one of his aunts and his grandma has sent us a check and a macys gift card.

We sent out engagement announcements and some of his families cousins and stuff have sent gifts in the mail. But im kinda surprised that his immediate family hasnt done much of anything.

Is this normal b/c were not having a party? just wondering??

We didn't have an engagement party, and didn't get one single gift from my family or his. We didn't expect any either. Honesty, in most parts of the country, even if you have an E-Party, it's totally optional on whether anyone brings you gifts. If they can afford it, that's great and an unexpected treat. I wouldn't take it as an insult at all.

I didn't get anything!!!! I got a beautiful card from an uncle, and lots of congrats and hugs... but that's about it!

Honestly, I didn't expect anything either! Now that I'm a regular on this site and see how many gifts these girls get, I'm jealous lol.

I only got a card from my parents, grandma, brother and my uncle. My aunt gave us a regifted gift which was fine.. app. tray. My soon to be sister in law took me and fh out to dinner at boulder creek and thats it. The rest of the family NOTHING!!!!

I didn't expect money = no egangement party but a card would of been nice. I understand how u feel.

We didn't get anything from either of our families...and I didn't expect it, nor was I upset by it.

You're going to get gifts from his family for the wedding...so I wouldn't get upset...

Re: just wondering??

I know in my family which is southern italian we dont give gifts for engagements, not even a card. Maybe his family is the same way. Its not meant to be offensive, we tend to give really nice shower and wedding gifts and leave it at that...... hope this helps.

Megan, I totally know what you mean. I'm not expecting cash but a card saying congrats would be nice. My side of the family sent something, whether it was just a card or a card with some $$ in it. But FH's side of the family... not even a phone call.

This pissed me off the most though. Shortly after we got engaged my younger sister was leaving to spend the month in Ireland for school... MY godmother sent her $100 just for going to Ireland..... she STILL hasn't sent me even a card saying congrats.
