i honestly dont know why its just wierd, i think if its date i wont have a problem meeting them since that person is with my friend i invited and may be with them in the future, but if its just a random friend that i will prob never see again it just bothers me, idk im just not fan of the whole thing, but again i didn put & guest so i cant really say anything i guess unless they ask me

I just feel like- It's a wedding, you're not out at a club... do you really need a wingman?!

I can't speak for everyone, but I just feel that if your bringing someone it should be more like a date. Especially when we're talking about feeling bad for singles during things like slow dances and stuff like that. idk about you, but if I bought my best friend with me as my date I wouldn't be slow dancing with her, lol. I feel like if your invited with a plus one to a wedding you should either have someone in mind, or def know who your going to bring. You shouldn't be searching for a random friend whose free that night to tag along.

WIth that said, I do think theres exceptions to this. If I had a friend that was single, and didn't know anyone else but me at the wedding I wouldn't really care who she took as her date.

Ive been my girlfriends guest a few times but I knew the people - just werent close to them like she was.

BUT - if the girl doesnt know anyone but the couple and doesnt have a guy to bring I dont see anything wrong with her wanting to have a friend with her as her +1 .. JMO

Same here. I had a few people bring their female friends as guests. I had no problem with it.

That's my point too. If the friend only knows the couple - they shouldnt have to go alone and sit alone without anyone. That gives me anxiety just thinking about it. I just would never mind if that was the case and someone brought their friend.

Re: just wondering..

ok I get it, the plus one is just a courtesy to ur single friend
so I get why some ppl will have a problem with that 'date' being a just friend

my MIL's good friend brought her ex husband. yup EX. I didnt care. the only person to care was my MIL haha

This is annoying to me too. I invited a friend with a guest knowing that she is usually seeing someone but not necessarily have a boyfriend. She was dating someone and now its over so she said 'put me down for 2 - worse comes to worse ill find someone'

back in my single days.....my friend Karen got invited to a wedding and since she wasnt dating anyone at the time....she asked me to be 'her date'...so I said what the hell....the bride and groom were totally cool with it. It was kinda the joke of the evening...that I was her 'date'...we ended up having a great time!

I dont think there is anything wrong with it, provided the gift covers both of them.

my FH's friend brings a guy friend all the time to things if his gf cant come. we joke about it all the time. he even brought him to his work's xmas party. like, why did he need to have a 'bro-friend' go with him to a place where he knows EVERYONE!

I do think its odd...unless the person knows absolutely NO ONE at the wedding (with the exception of the bride and groom). Who wants to be at place for 5 hours not knowing anyone?

Re: just wondering..

usually i expect the person to bring a date or significant other, otherwise just come yourself but on the other hand, i think part of the purpose of inviting someone with a guest is so theyll have someone to talk to if they dont know anyone.

anyway, i did have one frind bring her friend but i also knew the friend and had hung out a few times...i was happy to have her there.

also, if you think about it, what if a girl brings a guy who is just a friend, or vice versa, is that so much different than a date? if not, then i guess it shouldnt matter if someone brings a friend of the same sex

My mom told me my grandma is bringing a guest. I asked her who she was bringing since my grandpa passed in grade school, and she said she was bring her like 3rd cousin or some sh!t and I don't even like the woman.

Really grammy?! You can't just come alone?!
