Re: just wondering..
ahhhhhhh I had this happen!
my friend rsvp'd with a date. When I asked who she was bring she said she wasnt sure yet...she was trying to find someone ...ok this is annoying bc why would u just try to find a random date...but whatever she was invited with a guest so i let it go.
a week or 2 later she was like 'i decided to just bring my friend...(some random girl I never met), so we can try to meet some of the single guys going'
ughh....I didnt say nethng but It was really annoying! People don't realize how expensive weddings are....its not a freaking singles party or something.

Ive been my girlfriends guest a few times but I knew the people - just werent close to them like she was.
BUT - if the girl doesnt know anyone but the couple and doesnt have a guy to bring I dont see anything wrong with her wanting to have a friend with her as her +1 .. JMO

Re: just wondering..
My cousin does that sometimes when she is invited places her boyfriend doesn't want to be bothered going. I personally think if you are invited with '& Guest' it means, you are invited with your significant other. In the past if DH & I where invited some place & we both couldn't go we replied just 1. We didn't bring someone in the other persons place.

Re: just wondering..
I don't like this idea either.....I have a single friend coming to my wedding, and something tells me she won't have a male date for the wedding. I really hope she doesn't decide to do something like this.
My mother has an older friend (she's like over 70), and has been divorced for about 20 years. Out of courtesy, people invite her to weddings with a guest, and she has brought her daughter as her guest. Of course, these are non-family weddings.

Re: just wondering..
I've seen this a decent amount of the time. I'm not too sure how I feel about it but if I put and guest I'm not in a place to say it can't be a friend.

Re: just wondering..
am I the only one who doesnt find this weird, annoying and totally acceptable
I mean, if u put on the invite '& guest' that means u take under calculation that this invite would equal 2 ppl. otherwise why invite w/guest?
besides , what does it matter to the inviter who the guest is? its safe to assume that this date is not a bf/gf otehrwise their name would've been on the invite

Re: just wondering..
This is why I'm only inviting people who are in serious relationships with a guest. I can't stand when people just try to find a random person to bring to a wedding.
ETA: The only reason I think its rude is because weddings are expensive. And unless your in a serious relationship, you shouldn't bring a random person as your 'date'. I personally wouldn't want to attend a wedding with one of my girlfriends as her guest.

Re: just wondering..
I don't see the difference - You invited them with a guest, you budgeted for a guest, what does it matter who the guest is?
I had one coworker bring her friend instead of her bf, no skin off my nose!

Re: just wondering..
I personally have never brought someone to a wedding just to bring someone, but with that said, it doesn't really bother me when people do it. Well, except for the coworker I invited plus 1 and she brought her aunt and uncle

yeah i can kind of see that. If that was the case for my friend and she called ands aid she would feel more comfortable with a friend or something I woulda been okay with it.
but she knew plenty of ppl there...and was basically just bringing someone to bring someone...thats what gets me annoyed. I didnt say nething bc yes she was invited with a guest and its not like I said 'So-So & guest as long as its a love interest ....but i dunno it just irked me that she was using it as a way for her and her friend to meet guys

Re: just wondering..
My thinking is, the people who are being invited 'with guest' are currently single (or in a short relationship) out of respect of our friendship, and considering most of our friends are married, we don't want them to feel like the odd man out when slow songs come on.
Mind you, about 95% of my friends and FH's friends know each other. So it's not like they need a friend sitting next to them to keep them company.

Re: just wondering..
It's *supposed* to be a date. I hate when someone brings a friend to a wedding.
ETA: Well, unless they really don't know many people. One guy brought his friend to the wedding. That's all fine and dandy except his FAMILY and all his friends were there! C'mon, there's no reason for that! I actually felt kinda bad for the girl, she was kinda left out!
