Just wondering Davids Bridal vs. Other bridal suites

I always here bad things about Davids Bridal, and good things about the other bridal stores.. i personally had a GREAT experience with Davids, I am so happy i went there.. I was hesitant at first.. I loved it.. EVERY other place i went to the people were so rude, and they didn't have sizes to try on, just bad experiences.. so how was your experience with davids?

The prices and the sales persons were great.

The customer service persons were terrible.

I put that David's was HORRIBLE because the one on Long Island has the WORST SERVICE I've experienced in my wedding research. I went to the David's Bridal near the Pallasades Mall in Nyack and that one is AMAZING! They had a clean showroom, friendly attendants and even called me to follow up on my progress a month later!

I ultimatly bought my dress from David's on LI, but only because I had great service from the Nyack branch, who showed me my dress out of suggestion.

I think the chain has great things available, but the LI branch employees are distracted and often rude.

You're asking about service, right? I thought the David's in Carle Place was fine. The people were very nice and helpful. They were the same as all the other bridal salons I went to.

I didn't buy from David's, but only because I found a dress I loved elsewhere. The saleswoman who helped me at David's was wonderful.

I went to David's in North Carolina while visiting the FILs... the service was great. I've been to the one here in LI for a friend's wedding to shop for her gown and the service was not great. I also went to look for my FGs dresses and the service was not bad but not good either.

My sister and I were wondering - do the salespeople at Davids work on commission? If the answer is no, that explains at lot.

I went to two, one in NJ and one in Delaware and my experience with both of them was awful.

Rude people, the saleswoman didn't listen to my requests (I said no off the shoulder and she kept bringing them).

The stuff they have is nice and affordable, but I'm a nut when it comes to customer service, as it is part of my job to train employees on how to handle customers. So it may just be me!!

I think they were ok...The woman helping me was just as good as any other place and much better then 2...The place was apcked but they gave me things like a corset, shoes, veil , slip...really helped me decide..they other places except one, I had to ASK and that annoyed me...I think it depends on so much, person, time of day etc....
I worry about them getting the orders right at Davids, thats my main concern because they sell more dresses then other places is all the same manufacturer( them) versus dealing with a vendor ( bridal salon) that uses many manufacturer's...

Since I used to work at David's, I'm fully qualified to answer this: Yes and No.

You either get salary (hourly) or commission, depending on which is more. Honestly, the bracket to make commission is so high that it is very difficult to get there. I didn't make commission once in the 3 months that I worked there (I have been a top seller at all my other retail jobs).

And I answered that they were horrible, but that's mainly due to my experience in the Danbury store (where I used to work, no less). The Carle Place store bent over backwards to help me, and while they still messed up a bit, they were able to fix the problem.

my experience at David's Bridal was eh. They did have a lot to try on and different sizes which was nice but... I was there on a weekend there were a million people in the dressing room, including kids runnning around, and aftr I had tried on about 5 dresses I guess my time was up because the woman helping me was now helping someone else. At one point she siad come back during the week and ill have time for you. A little rude. I also felt like it was a bride factory. So many people coming and going. It was to overwhelming for me. I ended up getting the dress I love somewhere else, where I was the only trying on bridal gown, and i felt special.

Agree- The greeter person??? was the rudest woman I have ever met. I chalked it up to her being bitter and single.

My experience was a mixed one. First of all, I knew which dress I wanted--so it was easy for my saleswoman--so of course she was nice to me. I bought an Oleg Cassini dress which was supposedly a 'special order' dress. When they called me to pick up the dress--it was the sample I tried on. I knew this because I put a pen mark on the inside tag. They also tried to pass on a sample veil on as a new one. When I brought this to their attention I received all new merchandise. My experience with the alterations people so far has been pleasant they were very patient and accomadating. I'll let you know how the final product turns out.

My experience was horrible. I think that what ever people can afford is their personal problem, but just because their mechandise is affordable, doesnt mean the service should be down right cheap. I think that whether you are purchasing a 500 dress or 5000 dress you should be treated equally. It should be a pleasant experience not horrible. I would never recommend anyone there.

I have not done much dress shopping yet but David's was awful... I couldn't even imagine them trying to pass of one of those samples as new. Some of the ones I looked at had ink stains and the bows and beads were ripped and hanging. I understand that they have many dresses and they are just samples but don't you want to show the dress looking great not like the bride just had a street fight. It was not busy when we were there but no one offered any help at all they just kept pushing past us as they walked by. Not a fun experience.

I bought my wedding dress and BMs dresses from davids bridal...the prices were awesome and they came in 1 month before expected! I really had no problems...it was a little frustrating because it is a big place but everything went well.

I agree....I actually would have liked to get my dress there but due to the way I was treated, I just walked out. I am in there to buy a WEDDING dress, not a sack of potatoes, and I feel I should be treated as such.

Might I add my sisters story and I think Ive posted this before....

She was scheduled to get married in July (this was 2002) and the wedding was called off sometime in May. She went there and got her $ back, cancelled the order. She received a phone call in SEPTEMBER telling her that her dress is in, and when would she like to come and pick it up?
