I got mine in 2000 and I think it took about a month. I remember I had to give my birth certificate and social security card. When you receive your passport in the mail you will receive those two things as well.

Ok, thanks. I guess that there is no easy way to get them these days. It still takes several weeks?

Call the passport office in NYC, if you have your airline tickets or reservation, you may get a passport on the spot, be prepared to spend all day there.

Fh just did his (first time applicant, not a renewal) and it took him about 3 weeks to get it back.. DEF give yourself ample time to get this..

I have a really old passport and its in my maiden name and its too old to renew. I thought that by now it would be easier to get a passport.

You can get it in less than a week, but that also involves paying an additional 65 bucks on top of the 85 you're alreafy spending!! ridiculous..

Takes about a month give or take a few days.....

I have mine 3 years and I thought it would take forever to get it. I got mine in January for my vacation in March. So definatly leave enough time to get it

I am not sure of the fee's though. You should definatly call the passport office to get that info

in some cases, they will provide you with a letter that explains when you are leaving and if you pay the fee, you'll get it in no time!

I just renewed mine and also changed to my married name. It took me about 3 weeks to get it in the mail.

I always used to get my passport in the city. I think you get it right away there.

you can only go to the passport agnecies if you have a airplane ticket now...

DH went to the manhattan one last year...and it took the entire day...

I went to the LA one last month and it took 2 1/2 hours!!


there are certain offices where you can get the passport in a week...but that is with the extra charge (day of passports also have an extra charge)

I guess they try and make there money however they can.
