I've been meaning to get around to posting about the shower!! Thanks so much for asking!
I have pictures at home (I'm at work now!), so I will post them later.
I decided to wear the brown and white dress. It was the clear leader on these boards AND both my MOH and SIL (family fashion guru) chose it over the skirt and blouse. I had my hair and makeup done at Annastasia in Garden City and loved them both.
I had SO MUCH FUN! My mom threw me a lovely shower at the Davenport Press in Mineola. The room we had was gorgeous. So many people came and I received so many generous, beautiful gifts. We had so much fun.
My MOH and a couple of the BMs planned some very cute shower games. My MOH made the most beautiful favors - they were chocolates in the shape of a flower. I believe she purchased the flowers already made, but then made bouquets out of them for each person who attended. They were beautiful and delicious! My FMIL (from Hershey, PA) also brought giant Hershey kisses with personalized ribbons for every guest. I thought that was very sweet (no pun intended)
Aside from some FIL drama (or I guess lack of drama since only 2 people from his side showed up, one of whom was his mom), the day was absolutely lovely.
After the party, my family (cousins, etc.) and their families came back to my parents' house (so did FH's mom and her friend who came) and we had a big BBQ. A couple of the BMs came, too. It was a great impromptu after party!
My oldest niece (7) and my cousin's daughter (6) came to the shower. They were ADORABLE and such a big help opening all the presents.
I will have to post more when I get home from work - and I promise to post pics.
For those of you who followed my (by now ancient) post about my fear of receiving lingerie at my shower... As I totally predicted, my mom got me some. However, they are just (very beautiful) silk nightgowns, so no drama or embarassment there at all.
My mom, MOH, and BMs were very generous. In addition to throwing me the shower and the lingerie, my mother also bought us ALL (every place setting) of our everyday dishes! My MOH and two of the BMs got me most of our bedding, which was SO generous. My cousin and her daughter (who is in the wedding) got us our wine fridge and 3 VERY nice bottles of wine. My wonderful friend and BM got me the most beautiful photo album for our wedding pictures.
I wrote out almost half the thank you cards last night and *hope* to finish the rest tonight so I can mail them tomorrow. (Hopefully along with our wedding invitations!!) Everyone was so generous - I have all but 1 or 2 place settings of china!! I got all of our everyday stuff, too.
It was such an awesome day! I will post the pictures later on today.
