Lunch: 1 medium banana water
I'm slightly hungry, but I'm afraid to eat
Dinner: Chinese half pint of chicken and broccoli half pint of boneless spareribs

Kate, is that all for lunch? I think you're entitled to more than that !!!!!
Good luck, I dont think your weight is that much considering your height

Re: Kate's Log
well I am able to hide it to an extent so thats good but my stomach is out of control!!! LOL
Ok today is not good, I just had a candy cane.
I plan on having a nice satisfying (= big to me) dinner tonight so I want to save most of my food for tonight.
Am eating an apple now.

If you ask me - You didn't eat enough.....an apple and a banana is not enough for lunch - but I wish I had your willpower!
Good Job!

Re: Kate's Log
Kate, WW is about changing your eating lifestyle.. the result of changing your lifestyle is losing weight. You will not be able to continue eating this way if you only eat apples & bananas. Apples & Bananas spike your blood sugar and will give you a pretty bad low at about 3pm which is when your blood sugar drops naturally. If you want to eat low point during the day you should probably eat something like a salad and some protein- like a chicken breast. you can eat that for like 5 pts.

Re: Kate's Log
SASSY - Oh yes I know! I really shouldn't have started today, I mean usually I'm better than this. I am psyched to go shopping al get all good stuff!
But I saw the new board and got all excited! I need a watchdog and someplace to see what I've eaten.
Also I saw you post on low carbs, I'm thinking this may be worth a try, but can't get it in my head that the stuff thats low in fat is bad and eggs, cheese, oils, etc are good.
Any suggestions?

Re: Kate's Log
As an ex-WW I totally understand. I've spent 27 years learning that low fat is good. But let me tell you this.. there was not a heartattack in this country until 1912... that's when we all started drinking more soda, eating more sugar, etc. Really, the enemy is sugar- it's unbelievable but it is true. it raises your triglcyerides and makes your heart unhealthy.
Suggestions would be to start gradually- try not to eat any sugar- low fat foods are higher in sugar and will spike your insulin level. when your insulin is spiked, your body immediatly begins storing your food fuel as fat instead of burning it.
Maybe you should read a book by Atkins....
It helped me.

Re: Kate's Log
I will try to pick up a book sassy. but don't they also say things like not to eat fruit? I thought fruit was made of 'good' sugar?

Re: Kate's Log
Certain fruits have a high-glycemic index.. foods that have a high-glycemic index spike your insulin more than others.. i eat melons & berries- they don't have as much sugar.
your breakfast looks good, but i'd switch the bananas for melon & i'd try to get off sugar and get used to splenda instead.

Re: Kate's Log
Thanks sassy! I bought some splenda packets on Friday, but of course forgot to bring them work. I haven't tried them yet, I am so hoping they don't taste too artificial like sweet n low, or equal. I can't eat that stuff - yuck! I almost bought the box of splenda too to use in recipes, but I want to see if I like it first.
I love bananas , plus they are so easy to bring to work, melon isn't so easy to find this time of year and requires a little more effort. But I guess thats what this is all about isn't it!

Re: Kate's Log
I buy the frozen berries and eat them.. they defrost pretty good. Oh yeah- don't use skim in coffee, use cream...i know it sounds crazy- but it's better for you

Re: Kate's Log
I am such a tart. That is a great idea. I often buy them to have with whipped cream when we make crepes and they are awesome. I think I remember seeing frozen honeydew and cantalope balls too.

Re: Kate's Log
that looks good kate- but make sure you don't eat the same thing everyday- don't want your body to get used to burning the same type of food or you getting bored.
you're doing great.

Re: Kate's Log
Thanks sassy, I'll try! I'm having a problem finding breakfast items, so the eggs are something I can get quick and inexpensively at the deli once I get to work.
I try to bring my lunch, but I don't want it to be something I might have for dinner like chicken cutlet, I don't want to get sick of it.
BTW, I like the splenda! thanks for the suggestion!
What do you do when you have a craving for something sweet? Around 3pm, i feel like I MUST have a treat. its tough.

Re: Kate's Log
You are doing great!!! Eggs are good and so are the bars... I usually grab those b/c I am perpetually running late.. no matter how early I wake up. I buy them by the 12 pack. they are about $22 a box.. a little pricey, but worth it for me.. I also sometimes make hardboiled eggs, but I'm moving right now and have basically been eating like a scavenger (or a bachelor- same difference)
When I am craving something sweet I eat 1/2 of a low carb bar or some berries or a sugar free jello (those are great to travel with)
