Re: Kate's Log
Yeah- i try not to eat too much splenda or nutrisweet- I oscillate b/w the two depending upon what I have.
Yes, Induction is harsh- but I ate the sugar free jello during mine- don't worry- you can have it.. :)
Quick lesson- 2 grams of carbs on the bars is the net effective carbs... the fiber subtracts some carbs as do sugar alcohols... so the effective carb count is basically all the carbs that count- sugar alcohols (such as splenda) burn off quickly and don't spike your insulin.
Atkins really doesn't explain that in his book :(

Re: Kate's Log
I'm usually someone who can't stay away from the scale, but I think I'll wait till Friday to see what a full week of serious sticking to this has done.
If I was getting married in a week I would NOT be able to do this! So good for you! You must have so much going on. Every little bit helps! Whats for lunch???

Re: Kate's Log
Yeah the water is so important.. it has a direct effect on how much weight you lose.. i'm not kidding.. you know what's a good dinner? Make taco meat w/ seasoning. Cut up some onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc & shread cheese.. then wrap them in ice burg lettuce shells and make lettuce burritos.. SO GOOD.

You are doing so well Kate- I'm proud... The filet mignon looked great! Bet it was good. I was going to make jello last night (i like it better home made then when in those packs- plus those packs are so small).. but I couldn't find my measuring cup.. don't think I unpacked it yet!

Re: Kate's Log
So far for breakfast I had a keto oatmeal raisin bar (3 carbs) and a hard boiled egg... I made a steak last night- first meal I made in new apartment... did it in the cast iron- I highly recommend you pick one up if you don't already have it.

Re: Kate's Log
Hi Dina! My eggs just came, maybe I'll wait a little while to have those.
Glad to hear you are settling into your new apt! Yes we have either an 8 or 10' cast iron I use for small stuff but I have been wanting a larger one. I also have a cast iron 5 qt dutch oven. Those are really great for pot roast!
Thanks for being my own personal cheering section! I think thats what has made this week fly by! I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. I'll weigh in tomorrow morning and let you know if my scale is broken or not!!!! LOL

Re: Kate's Log
I want to take a bet on how much you lost...! I know you did good and it is so important to have support on this diet since it's sort of against the norm. A lot of people don't believe carbs are bad for you- and sometimes when you tell people what you are doing they look @ you like you are crazy.
so hang in there! You wanna know a good dessert? I get frozen strawberries and defrost them but leave them a little still frozen & smash them up and mix them w/ whipped cream- sorta like strawberry ice cream!

Re: Kate's Log
Well it would've been the day if 'she' didn't show up today But according to the scale I'm down six from that weird number I told you about last week. So I don't know whats going on! Would have been more? Oh so confused...... But will continue induction till next Monday to get a true determination BTW, I also bought those Ketone strips this AM and it was very purple so I must be doing something right! Right?
