Kathi

I read your post about your sister's nanny, and that's EXACTLY what we were looking to pay.
Would it be possible for you to find out where your sister found her nanny?? I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Kathi

Hi JennRenee!!

Sorry for the delayed response! My sister lives in Rockland Co. so she ran an ad in the local paper as well as the Irish Echo...which is where she got her wonderful nanny, Geraldine (her sons adore her)!

Anyway, their website is IrishEcho.com - I believe they list Nassau/Suffolk as well as upstate and NYC.

Good luck!! $450/wk is too much for us!! It wouldn't be worth it for me to work for that amount!

I wish I knew what I (we) were going to do!!

Thank you SO much! I agree that $450 is a lot of money. It'll only be for 2 years though, because as soon as this kid is 2, it's going to pre-school! I can sacrifice a few pairs of shoes for my bambino (I think! ).

Re: Kathi

He He!! Don't get me wrong, my Peanut's worth $1450 a week!! But, it's tough!! We're going to have to find someone part-time if we definitely decide against daycare!!

I really ought to be working on this, eh??

Re: Kathi

You have the wrong person if you think I'd even for a MINUTE think you thought your peanut wasn't worth a million a week!!!!

It's a tough decision to make. We're still not 100% set on getting a nanny, but it's the direction we are leaning in. If Patrick doesn't do well on the LT's test, he will be able to work nights and he could be the nanny, LOL, but we're banking on him doing well. (We need the money to pay for the nanny ~ is this a vicious cycle, or what?? ). If he gets promoted he will have no control over his hours, which is why we are looking into child care.

Anna ~ MWAH! You are so sweet to offer!!!! I may end up taking you up on that if a child care crisis arises!

Re: Kathi

Hey I would offer full time, but I dont want to make a commitment like that, with school also...
who knows ! Maybe a couple of days a week?
Ive actually been looking at daycares to work at part time and take him with me, just to get out of the house a little and both of us socialize with our own peers (it sure isnt for the money they pay)

Re: Kathi

If you were to work for a daycare, I'd put my lima bean in the same one. I'd feel SO much more comfortable just knowing you were in the same building ~ it wouldn't even have to be in the same room!

Oh, Anna!!! You're so sweet!!! I've got until October (give or take) to decide what to do w/ Peanut!! I may only return to work P/T so I can afford a P/T nanny!!

BTW, I'm in Seaford.

Re: Kathi

Jenn, youre too funny! Of course i'd peek my head (the room where your peanut was) in if that were the case
Jenn wouldnt daycare be much cheaper than a nanny? and the child will socialize and be in a fun, colorful, happy surroundings. AND you wont have a stranger in your home, and you wont have to clean up after all the goings on of the day.! JMO. I really dont think daycare is as bad as peoepl make them out to be !
But i would really help out, no question. especially if im home ! PLEASEEE feel free to ask me anytime !

Kathi-im not that close to you, but the offer still stands honey!
