Re: KC

Here are a couple of thoughts:

Oh and by the way, there is great website called Sheckys (i think www.sheckys.com) that has reviews of nyc hangouts by location, etc. )

Tortilla Flats- on Washington
A really festive Mexican place, great food/drink specials...but the atmosphere is the best part. Lots of silly things going on like hula hoop contests that can win free shots for your table, etc. But not too wild. There is a big back booth that you can reserve and it is kind of small and cozy. My friends and I love this place for parties, b-days, etc.

Cowgirl Hall of Fame is a good idea too- on Hudson
The theme is cool and kitchy without being cheezy. Great food, again good prices and drinks, etc. One benefit is that it is on a block with a few other good bars that you could hit, more pub style...Blind Tiger Ale House has great beer selection and is across the street. Plus, White Horse Tavern is a famous Village bar and is just up the block.

Sushi Samba is the easiest location by Naked Boys and is definetly a hip scene.

If you are going out after, there is a bar over in the East Village called Niagra that i love. Reminds me of the movie, Swingers. The upstairs is sort of swanky and neon and leopard-y, but the basement is a Tiki Lounge with big crazy drinks - lots of fun. Plus, there are a ton of other bars right by it if it is too crowded or not for you.

Kind of random, but Bowlmor Lanes can be really fun on a weekend, too. I dont know if you have ever been, but they have (overpriced drinks) and do glow in the dark or disco bowling and it feels kind of trendy and club-y. Not sure about this one.

If you want to dance, Culture Club on varick Street is this 80s place that is a blast.

Hope this helps! I am rambling on here Let me know if you need more ideas....

Re: KC

Thanks! Cowgirl hall of fame and tortilla flats sound cool, the sushi place sounds cool too, but don't know if we should be mixing raw fish with all the drinking that night! I need to call and see if they take reservations!

Re: KC

ugh, the cowgirl HOF and Tortilla Flats have horrible reviews on line, about rude staff and long waits....if you think of anything else that's lively and would be a good pre-lude to the show, please let me know! They do rave at the margaritas at tortilla flats though....so maybe that will do!!

Re: KC

I think they both do. Someone on the board recommended Sazerac House which is on Hudson, like a half mile from the show I think. The ratings were high and the staff was really nice to me when I called. I don't think it's very lively, but it might be nice to have a chance to talk and eat and have some drinks and then get more lively during and after the show! Ever been to that place?

Re: KC

I havent heard of the place, but I like your idea of doing something a little more low key first and saving the partying for the show and after. Sounds like a great night! Can I come ?LOL

Re: KC

Re: KC

i dont think 4 weeks is too soon. Fo me, the only time I think it is too soon is the week of the wedding or so, because then you are dealing with hangovers and all that, and there is so much else going on that week! I always felt bad for friends who had to deal with their FH having his bacheor party the night before! 4 weeks actually sounds like the right time frame.
