Keep her as a friend? Advice...

Keep her as a friend? Advice...

Not exactly sure what it is I'm looking for by posting this. Maybe just venting...
If anyone has experienced this or has some insight I'd appreciate it.

I have this friend that I know from college, she's not a very close friend, but a good friend that I kept in touch with (been about 6 years since I've known her). When I got engaged I invited her to my e-party. She rsvp'd Yes and then never showed. (She said she was in a car accident the night before and had just gotten home from the hospital - left the msg on my machine during party). She was invited to the shower and came (stayed only for 1hr). I invite her to the wedding, she rsvp'd Yes and doesn't show. She left a msg on my machine that she had knee surgery and was still in the hospital - the message was left during the wedding.

I was really annoyed about the wedding. I mean you have to know you're going in for surgery in advance!! This started making me think that she made up the car accident thing too...there's no way for me to really ever know.

Anyway, I basically just stopped taking the iniciative with her. I was ****ed. She'd write me emails and say we should get together and then leave it up to me to call her. I gave her a second chance and a few weeks ago I talked to her on IM and she said we should get together, gives me her numbers. I called her last week and left a voicemail. She has yet to return my call. I see her on IM and she doesn't say hi or that she got my message or nothing!

I want to confront her about the kind of friend (or not a friend she really is) Do you think I should say something or just forget it and write her out of my life?

The one thing I know she used to do is tell her boyfriend (now FI) that when she went out places that she was with me and really wasn't. I think she's afraid for me to meet her FI - honestly. I don't know why I even care!

Thanks for letting me vent!

i'm sorry!!!
sometimes friends just grow apart...it's happened with a couple of my friends and it stinks! i wish i had better advice for you!!
i think it's time for her to take steps to resolve this. or maybe you should talk to her and explain how much she's hurt you!!

Honestly, from past experience, and this is not to sound mean, but if you are not going to miss her as a friend - I woudn't pursue the friendship any further.

It's sad...but true...people are not always as nice, giving, respectable and loyal as you.

I think you should just let her go. Think about it...do you really think confronting her is gonna make a difference??

I'm definitely not going to pursue the friendship any longer. I obviously know who my true friends are. I hate fake people and liars more than anything.

I feel better just cause I got it off my chest.
Thanks for listening

Actions always speak louder than words.

It doesn't matter what she's saying to you, it's her behavior that's telling you she isn't a good friend.

I wouldn't call her a friend anymore.

Sorry....

I would tell her that she f-ed up. But that's just who I am. I like to have the closure. Sorry

I wouldn't call her anymore either. She doesn't sound like much of a friend.

I'd just forget her. Obviously she doesn't care enough to give proper closure, so don't put any more effort in it.

One of my closest friends (ha) from college called the week before the wedding to say she didn't think coming up to NY (she's in NC) would be convenient at this time, so she wasn't coming to the wedding. HELLO? She knew about it for over a year. Needless to say, no card, no email, no congrats at all...

Haven't spoken to her since that phone call. Oh well.
