For the past couple of months FH and I (mostly me) haven't been spending our change and everyday we've been putting it in a huge preztel bin...well, we are paying for our engagement party on Sunday and with the change we saved, we are paying for our tent!!!! We saved almost $400!!!
I am starting over to save up for the HM!

Re: Keep the Change...
Great Idea...
I never spend change...Ive been doing that for years. I have a huge jug. Over the past years I questioned what I wanted to spend it on.. now that I am engaged I think I'll continue it and hopefully use it towrds our HM.
Great Idea!!! I never spend my change!

I do the same thing! Wait until you have all those months of change. $400 is nothing when you bust it open and you have $1200 in there. It's a great thing!

Re: Keep the Change...
Seriously, someone I know saved enough change to fill up one of those giant water bottles. He had one rule - he only put the silver in that and had a seperate jar for pennies.
So - at some point the water jug starts brimming over with change. I persuade him to go to Commerce Bank and take advantage of the change counter becuase I was dying to know how much it would add up to and since this feat had reached legendary proportions among his friends - he was afraid one of them would steal it as a joke (or just steal it).
After four or five trips (hey - change is heavy) the grand sum was ...........
over 5k.
Now, if you needed inspiration- now you have it. If only I could stop cashing mine in all the time........

Re: Keep the Change...
Such a great idea. DH and I did it last year and saved over $1000. We started again this year and so far we have $600.

FH and I would have so much more if he didn't need his $1.50 in quarters to park at Babylon train station Monday-Friday.

Re: Keep the Change...
we have done this for years. we paid for a trip to niagara falls that way. we used some for tips for the wedding and we started again for spending $$ for the HM. it may not be a lot, but if it covers tips at the airport and gas, its not bad.

Re: Keep the Change...
This is an awesome way to save. About 2 years ago, I started saving up my change and counted it over a year ago and had like $700.
I am trying to get myself to not spend my change lately b/c I fell out of the habit. It is an awesome way to save money though and act as if you don't have it until it is needed.

I do the same thing! I have a little piggy bank at work and cash it in every 2 weeks and deposit into the wedding fund.

Re: Keep the Change...
wow!! reading these posts is inspirational!! FH has a big Poland Spring water jug and he yells at me b/c I keep my change in my wallet like a little old lady (yes I'm the person holding up the line looking for 4 pennies!! lol). I have to start contributing......maybe for honeymoon play money...thats a great idea!

Re: Keep the Change...
It is a great idea even though I am the worst with it. I always seem to lose change. No idea where it goes but I never have any.
