Keeping Sanity?

Keeping Sanity?

Just wondering what you brides are doing to keep your sanity. I lost mind. My family as well as his family is driving me absolutely crazy. I am trying to stay calm as everyone comes at me with another request, mostly to invite more and more people to our wedding that I already over-invited for, and so far only have one couple that said they can not make it. I lost my patience and no longer care about accommodating anyone else’s requests. No one in either of our families once asked how they could help me; I am planning the entire wedding by myself in less than four months. I give up. If they don't care about making the bride happy, than I could care less about who or what they want at my wedding. But I am still completely stressed and aggravated and am making myself sick. How are you are all coping with your stresses?

Oh you poor thing -

I think the best thing is to let everyone know how you feel. Something alongs the lines of 'these are the rules, this is what we can afford, and this is what I need to do to make this wedding work on such a short schedule.'

Let them know that you need help, not requests. Be firm yet loving - they might not even know that they are hurting you.

Good luck!

We tried to take time to no non-wedding related things like go to a movie or on a day trip to get away from wedding things.

Also, try not paying attention to everyone. Politely thank them for their suggestion and then ignore it.

mmmmmmmm spa..

Well I can't afford outings since I'm paying for the whole wedding myself (as in just me, not FH or anyone else *sigh*)

I take a break by doing things I enjoy, alone or with FH. I spent 4 hours in Barnes & Nobles reading a book because I can't afford buying them anymore.

I make my favorite dishes for dinner: Mussels & Clams with Garlic butter sauce, fresh grated cheese and parsley.

I forget about the wedding at least one day a week.

It's important to remember WHY you are getting married. Think about your FH, think about looking into his eyes and saying your vows, think about your future together.... know how lucky you are to be marrying him! Whenever I've been stressed out about the little things, I try to focus on the most important... my FH!!

Hang in there!!!
