Is this too much of a husband/wife song for a father/daughter dance?

Re: Kenny Rogers...Through the Years....
I can't remember when you weren't there When I didn't care for anyone but you I swear we've been through everything there is Can't imagine anything we've missed Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do
Through the years You've never let me down You turned my life around The sweetest days I've found I've found with you Through the years I've never been afraid I've loved the life we've made And I'm so glad I stayed Right here with you Through the years
I can't remember what I used to do Who I trusted whom, I listened to before I swear you've taught me everything I know Can't imagine needing someone so But through the years it seems to me I need you more and more
Through the years Through all the good and bad I knew how much we had I've always been so glad To be with you Through the years It's better everyday You've kissed my tears away As long as it's okay I'll stay with you Through the years
Through the years When everything went wrong Together we were strong I know that I belong Right here with you Through the years I never had a doubt We'd always work things out I've learned what life's about By loving you Through the years
Through the years You've never let me down You turned my life around The sweetest days I've found I've found with you Through the years It's better everyday You've kissed my tears away As long as it's okay I'll stay with you Through the years
ETA: I think thats a great song

I am thinking of using it to dance with my step-dad...the lyrics are so meaningful from me to him and I'm BALLING here just listening to it!!! He has been in my life since I was 8 and I knew what songs I'd want for him already.
I just thought maybe the following lyrics weren't father/daughter-y:
You've kissed my tears away As long as it's okay I'll stay with you Through the years
Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do

I think it will work. I mean he was by your side to make everything better when you cried, right!

Re: Kenny Rogers...Through the Years....
i actually think this song is more appropriate for a father/daughter type dance rather than husband and wife so should be perfect

I defintely wouldn't think of it to be a song I'd choose to dance with with FH....I just thought hmm, is it too 'personal' for a dad lol

Re: Kenny Rogers...Through the Years....
i think of my grandfather when i hear this song bc we put it in a video we made for him, so i dont think using it for your father would be too much at all!

Re: Kenny Rogers...Through the Years....
I think it's ok to use this song!!!! I feel like some song lyrics can be interpreted in many different ways. So if you're dancing to this with a parent, most people will just be like aww that is such a sweet song to dance to with them and would just think of the lyrics as being in a parent/child type of way. I don't think anyone would analyze the lyrics and be like oh that wasn't appropriate.

i BAWL every time i hear that song. for me, it would be too much - but i cry at refrigerator commercials, so I'm not a good person to ask. (FH called me 'Massapequa Waterworks' when we lived there because I cried so much!!!)

DH used that song for his mother/son dance. I think is a very nice song - the title alone says it all
