I totally recommend it!! I used to have my hair Japanese straightened once a year and the last time they literally fried my hair! I swore off straightening. BUT I was talking into the Keratin and I love it. It actually makes my hair look and feel so much healthier. It is not as straight as the permanent straightening but it can hold a curl and has absolutely no frizz. Plus it cuts down drying time a lot! HTH

my mom gets hers done and it looked much 'healthier' than when she used to do the jap hair treatments

my sister and FSIL both do it and LOVE IT. they both had very unmanageable curly frizzy hair and their hair looks awesome. no side effects.

No side effects at all. It is a product that actually coats the hair, doesn't chemically alter it. The only thing is you have to use a special shampoo that has no sulfur in it. It will wash out otherwise. It lasts about 3 to 4 months.

Last question - does swimming or sunning affect it?

Salt water will wash it out, but pool water will not. I haven't heard anything about the sun so I would say it doesn't effect it.

my coworker just did it! and it looks realllllllly nice.... HOWEVER she has very full thick hair and i noticed a significance difference in volume which i kinda didnt like, she looks beautiful regardless, but at least now she says that her hair isnt fried from the treatment or anything and she can just wash her hair and go

By volume do you mean it fell out or just looks thinner bc its straight?

Any salon recommendations????? What's the diff. btwn the brazillian and just the regular keratin??? I am confused but I want to try it.

Ok first question....coloring...it has no effect. Actually it makes the color last longer. When I had it done I had my hair colored and glazed the same day I had the Keratin done. If you could do it that way I would highly recommend it. Next question...Brazilian and Keratin are basically the same thing, just different names. And just to put your mind at ease...I think she was really talking about the fullness of the hair. Your hair will be much flatter than before, but not completely flat you will still have some volume. Your hair will not fall out...it is not chemically altering your hair, it is just a 'coating' on top of it. HTH

***ETA*** The girl who does my hair comes to you. She has 20 years experience and is very reasonable. FM me if you want her info.

How much is this? My salon has it and its like $500 .. is that the norm?

canmigs Posted:

Re: Keratin treatments -aka- brazillian hair straightening

That's the norm for a salon, or close to it. My girl charges way less.

Where I go, they charge 250 and you go 3 days later and they blow it out for you. I did Japanese for a long time. I grew it out now and only have Keratin in my hair. It looks healthy, does not fall out and is actually being infused with vitamin (keratin). I also love that it's not permanent, so you have the option of going back to your regular hair after months. Last time, it took me 7 months to go get it re-done b/c it lasted that long, but that depends on your hair.

LOVE IT!

The hair dresser who blew out my hair on Sunday just recommended this treatment to me because I have decently frizzy hair, especially in the summer. I'm seriously considering it, thanks for all the info!

So does this treatment straighten hair? Or just take the frizz away ? I have very curly hair but I blow it out all the time .. I never wear it curly (I hate it) .. I have done the Jap starightening but it damaged my hair .. made it dry and look ****** after a while ..
