it wasn't as clear as the first debate...but i think kerry did better again with this one.

Re: Kerry in a Landslide!
I thought it was really hard to call, and I'm a big Kerry supporter. I do think kerry was more direct, but I think Bush still had his small town appeal going on (not that it''s any appeal to me)

Lots of times I looked at my husband during bush and said 'what was the question'? Could he go into the 'no child left behind thing one more time?

Okay .. it's taken a while for the Bush fans to get rolling, but the poll is getting a but closer .. still, Kerry has a clear lead for having won the debate.

ROFL..I KNOW....Everyt ime he was asked ANYTHING my dad was like 'let me gues.... education' ROFL
And he didn't even anser the roe v. wade question. I thought someone who was so religious and steadfast would be able to give astraight answer.
I think Kerry won huge points on his strong stance on abortion, sepearaton of church and state and same sex marriages, whether you agree with his views or not, I think he presented it clearly and resolutely.

Re: Kerry in a Landslide!
Alos, I think thes deabtes are so much more important than they've ever been it's such a heated election. I've honeslty never watched a debate before this year. In the 2000 election it was simple. I loved Bill Clinton, so of course that put a point in the gore column and my main issues then were gun control, same sex marriage cna capital punishment.
this year it's about SO much more, and even though I've known who I would vote for from the very beginning, I've been so interested in the political process.
Also, i want to say that the polls are COMPLETELY off. Why? Polls incluide likely voters, so they go by past voting records. This year there is a record number of NEW voter registrations and many of them are young people, and that could REALLY swat the election. The statistics fomr years before said that the older you are, the more likely you are to vote, wit the elederly voting at the highest rates. I think that's so backward young people HAVE ot get involved in the politicla process because, harsh as it sounds, out grandparents will be long gone and we and our children will be living with the decisions made now.

Re: Kerry in a Landslide!
I can't believe it took the third and final debate - with only weeks to go until election day for the two candidates to finally talk about roe v. wade - not late term abortion - roe v. wade.
Everyone is entitled to their position on this issue - I for one was VERY GLAD to hear that yes, John Kerry does have a litmus test for supreme court justices - no one on the bench who would try and overturn roe v. wade. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
and what the heck took you so long to say this????????

Re: Kerry in a Landslide!
While I agree that Bush ducked some questions I think he was much more personal and conveyed a sense of who he is and was in command of the issues and that his character is one that does not waver .... Let's face it - Bush inherited many problems from Clinton, including a buond to happen recession when the bubble burst, a crappy policy on terror when Clinton was in office and then 9-11 happened. The reason we have lost so many jobs in 72 yrs is because we are facing a world war much like the one we had 72 yrs ago. (stock market crash in 29 then WW 2 in 1938)
I also think it was a low blow to bring out that Cheney's daugher was a lesbian when Bush never talked about it.
Another thing that I didnt like about Kerry was that he absolutely said that we shouldnt be allowed to take some of our SS money and invest it in private interests. First of all, its our money and second of all does he not trust us or does he think the American people are too stupid? It seems to me he wants to build bigger govt and take our money from us and spend it the way he wants to because he doesnt trust we can do it ourselves.
I agree Kerry is a very good debater (he was a trial lawyer)- will that make him a good president - I don't know.
I think Kerry spouted way too many facts like a trial lawyer and his damn thumb movements are way too programmed. I think he is making empty promises but of course we shall see if takes office what he can accomplish. Of course, I hope he can accomplish all he says he will if elected. But do I believe him - not really.
The fact that he was in the Senate for 20 years and only passed 5 bills with his name doesn't say too much for his record.

Ok, I agree. I didn't like him bringing Cheney's daughter in. The frst deabte it was ok, but tonight it was just gross.
The SS thing: it's not about not trustig the american people, or 'big government' it's about the fact that the money we're paying into SS today is paying for the benefit that our parents and gradnparents are getting right now. if we are taking that $$ out of the system and putting it into our own accounts, who is paying the benefits for our parents? it's a really big problem. Bush hasn't explained where he'd get the money to do that, and it seems ot me like that would just be a step closert to just giving people spending accounts and getting rid of SS as we know it.
ABout teh Senate thing, the 5 bills thing is a blatant misstatement. Also, many bills that he's contributed amendments to would not bear his name.

This is one of my biggest issues with our current President. Knowing yourself and your beliefs is one thing, but Bush seems to have a God Complex IMO. He does not convey to me that he is willing to analyze his actions and learn from his mistakes. IMO that is a HUGE character flaw.

I thought he said that this issue was misunderstood in the 2000 election too- and that there is no fear - the people getting their checks today will get their checks tomorrow. It's people like us who are in danger of not getting SS and that is where Bush wants to allow us to control a 'portion' of the money we are putting in by giving us the right to invest it the way we want to.
