Ketubah Question.....Odd/painful situation
I'm in the process of finalizing the wording on our kerubah and it asks for the names of both sets of parents. My family is not jewish so we don't have Jhebrew names obvi, which is fine. So maybe this doesn't apply...Do they only put the parents names on the Hebrew part..like so and so bat so and so?But anyway it asked for both parents names but I don't speak with my dad. It's really painful for me. Do you think I need to put my dad's name on there? Is it because it's like a historical record? What would you do?
Thanks!

Re: Ketubah Question.....Odd/painful situation
I would keep their names on it (in english). I wouldnt stress over the hebrew names for any of the parents

Re: Ketubah Question.....Odd/painful situation
Yea, i think the names are for the hebrew text. We're using English names. FH and I arent deeply religious in the 'everything needs to be exactly according to Jewish law' sense. We more like the concept of the ketubah and what it represents.
Our designer is putting our parents names on it in Enlgish. In fact, I don't speak to my real dad, so I am having my stepdad's name put on it instead.
Also, we chose our own English text. We are using the traditional Aramaic text, per the Rabbi, but we selected an English text that we feel resonates with us as a couple.
The rabbi and the ketubah artist are both fine with this.

Have you looked at a sample interfaith text to see what they say? I know that if someone converts then they are 'son of Abraham/daughter of Sarah' because their parents aren't Jewish, but don't know how it works in this situation. Maybe check with your Rabbi?Welcome New Vendors
