Re: KETUBAHS??
How far in advance do you have to order a Ketubah? Haven't even started looking....

Re: KETUBAHS??
I had mine custom made by a painter on etsy, FM me if you want to see a pic, it only took about a month.
I also really liked some on mpartwork.com - those take a few weeks and were more expensive than the etsy person!

Re: KETUBAHS??
well our rabbi wants us to wait until our first meeting before ordering, but it looks like they take about 6-8 weeks to be made up on some sites, so I guess about 2-3 months beforehand. Not sure if that's the case with everywhere though.

Re: KETUBAHS??
I think we are going to order from http://www.modernketubah.com/
We are interfaith and I wanted to be able to hang it in our home without FH feeling like there's a huge piece of Jewish art he can't relate to...and they have very nice interfaith texts to put on the Ketubah.

Re: KETUBAHS??
Go to Yussel's Place in Merrick. They have tons to choose from and will help you with your names, making sure it's a 'kosher' ketubah, etc.

Re: KETUBAHS??
We got ours at Zion Lion, and with personalization I want to say it was $360?
If you go on Ketubah.com, you can search by price as well as by text. We ordered ours in August, got it in December.... that is my only gripe with Zion Lion. we were told 6-8 weeks, not 4 months, but the calligrapher took her time getting to it.

Re: KETUBAHS??
can someone explain the process? What is the calligrapher for? I dont really know the whole thing...so, if you got a preprinted text, what gets calligraphied?

Re: KETUBAHS??
the calligrapher is for personalization, if you just order the ketubah as is, you will need to add in the wedding date, names, location, etc.
If you have it personalized, the calligrapher will add that in for you, for us it was both Hebrew and English personalization, I am not jewish so I would have had no clue how to write what needed to be in, and I am the one that knows calligraphy lol.
