My fiance would like this groomsmen to wear khakis and a blazer for the wedding and reception. We're having an afternoon wedding and evening reception. Are khakis too informal? What are some other options for guys to wear aside from tuxes?
Thanks!!

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
My sister's SIL had the guys wear linen white shirts and beige linen pants. I thought it looked so good!

I think linen would look great. Kelly's suggestion would look so sharp!

if you dont want them renting tuxes, sometimes the groom will tell the guys to wear a dark suit instead(hopefully they own one)

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
I only saw the linen at a beach wedding...but I think it would still be nice in October.
I think they got their clothes at Banana Republic.
Just make sure they have everything pressed with a lot of starch. Linen tends to wrinkle easy.

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
i've seen some wedding where the men wore khakis and blue blazers and it looked really nice! for an afternoon wedding - it can be less formal!

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
where's the reception?
The current Town & Country had a wedding supplement that showed khakis for a wedding and I loved the way it looked!!!!

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
I went to a wedding in Westhampton Beach a few years ago and the groom and groomsmen wore khakis, light blue shirt with yellow ties and it looked great!
I am getting married on the beach and wanted FI to wear casual, but he really wanted to wear a tux. My wedding is also evening, Saturday night so he thought kahkis were too casual.

I really like that pic. Atlantica you do pull off a nautical theme.

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
thanks for that town and country pic, i think it looks great! my only concern was that khakis wouldn't really 'go' with a formal wedding gown, but it seems to look fine. and, it seems like the guys are more comfortable in khakis than in a tux.
what do you think about having the groomsmen in khakis and blue blazer but the groom in a nice suit? just to set him apart a bit?

Re: khakis for Groomsmen?
Hi WHB - I'm having my reception at Atlantica next Saturday and we are also having the GM wear navy blazers and khakis. We actually bought them stone colored pants at Brooks Brothers so they're a little dressier than your standard cotton pants.
I would put the groom in a different colored tie to distinguish him rather than a blue suit. And I promise to post pics so you can see how it all looks at Atlantica!
