Kid free or kid friendly wedding?

Kid free or kid friendly wedding?

What are you ladies doing about kids for your reception. FH is completely against it, but I'm on the fence. There are a few (5-11 age range) that I honestly can't picture my wedding reception without. On top of it, these families would be traveling from Canada so its not like a babysitter is really an option. I feel like if I would want those select kids I would have to open it up to all.

So what are you ladies doing?

I think the only kids I'm having at the reception are the ones in my bridal party. We have 2 ring bearers, a flower girl, and a junior bridesmaid. they are the only children I really want there. I don't think you would have to open it up to all kids if u only want a select few there, just invite who you really want to be there for your day!

I'm only having a flower girl in my wedding party, and she'll be about 12 at the time, so not really a kid who needs a ton of supervision. At this point, she is the only kid who will be invited. I know it might sound mean or insensitive, but I don't want screaming babies to disrupt my ceremony or friends to have to leave early bc their kids are being finicky. I just want everyone to have a good time.

We're having our neices and nephews - there's 12 total, but they range from 2-16. We felt we had to, but I was not into it as much as FH was. We have a seperate room at the mansion which will have video games and stuff for the kids. I'm also hiring my sisters babysitter to watch the kids. The last thing I want is hyper 5 year olds running around the dance floor.

The youngest kid at my wedding will be 14 and she's basically family. She's also sort of in the wedding. She's playing guitar for the ceremony! Honestly... TOO many of my friends and family have little ones and I want my wedding to be mommy and daddy's night out. I don't want them having to worry about watching them, I don't want them disrupting the ceremony, and I don't want ANY OF THEM getting hurt! I also don't want to pay 50 bucks for them to not eat their chicken nuggets. If I were inviting kids... I'd have over 30 more plates to pay for and thats just MY side!

I'm only having my two 6 year old nephews who are our ring bearers. Other than that, no kids. I have a big Irish family with a lot of cousins and all my cousins have kids, plus FH's family has a lot of kids in it and it would just get to be too big. Plus we want everyone to drink and enjoy the party without having to worry about the kid's!

I can't even fathom having little kids running around at the wedding. I'm on the fence about teenagers since they at least don't need to be watched but I really wanted a 21+ reception but that's not going to happen. I want people to enjoy themselves! Thankfully we don't have too many friends or family with little kids so hopefully I shouldn't run into this issue.

As much as I love my friends and family's children I want a kid free wedding except for my flower girl amd ring bearer aka my children. I rather not pay so much money on a meal the kids probably will have eat. The only people I have offended is my siblings out of state but I its cheaper for me to pay for childcare that day that haveall the llittle ones. Rather be surrounded by more of my close friends and family that can appreciate the time and money that goes into a wedding.

We're having an adults-only reception with the exceptions of our FG and RB who probably won't even stay the entire time since they'll both still be pretty little.

We don't have that many children that we could even invite to be honest, BUT we will be having some. Anyone traveling from out of state we are inviting their children. I personally think its extremely rude to ask people to travel to your wedding and then leave their children with strangers so they can come. If I was asked to do that (when I have kids) I wouldn't go to the wedding. That being said we will have our flowergirls who will be 2 & 4, FHs cousins children who will be 5 & 4,and my JBM who will be 12. I can't really think of any other children. I do have a second cousin who will be invited who has 3 children but I dont feel as though they need to be invited, they have family who can watch their children. I think its based on an individual basis and how close the children are to the couple.

Were having children. Originally I didn't want kids except for those in the bridal party but FH's family is big and there are alot of kids. We are figuring at least 25 kids will attend. We are inviting all the kids but basically giving the parents the option of bringing them or doing a parents night. I plan to make little goody bags for them with coloring books and stuff to keep them entertained. I plan on seating them with the parents. I know people do seperate kids tables but I prefer to have the parents watching their own children instead of someone else having to monitor them. We are having a little extra of things to that I think the kids will enjoy alot as well as the young at heart.

We are only inviting the 3 kids that are in the wedding party... otherwise our wedding would be mostly kids! One of FH's friends has 6 and another has 3... and my cousin has 3... and there are a bunch of others. So our limit is 16 and over.

I never even this!! I only have 1 family that is coming out of state (technically speaking out of country) everyone else is local. The family that is coming from out of state is the family that I'd love to have the kids. So that might be the excuse I give to people that have children that ask. I'm just so afraid of having some kids and people complaining that 'why couldn't we bring our kids'. But I now have an answer for them :)

Not to be rude, but how do you tell your siblings they can not bring their children? I mean I know babies crying and little kids running around is annoying, but I can't imagine telling the only people I want to celebrate my day with me that can not bring their children, because they are family too.

I have way too many children in my family to not invite them. Some are in my BP, and I feel I can't invite some and not others. Children of friends will not be invited!

No kids! They are not going to be at our wedding, our wedding is no place for them. My youngest cousin will be 14 and she will be the youngest person there. We do have 1 out of state couple that has 2 kids and if they feel like they can't leave their kids with another family member or friend than that's their issue.
It may sound harsh but it's my day and we don't want kids there. Even though we love our friends kids they won't be joining us.

This! My one friend and her husband with her 4 kids would be almost their own table!!! Our limit is 14+ but its really only 3 kids. One is my cousin, one is playing guitar for us during the ceremony... and the other is our officiant's kid :)

I couldn't fathom not have kids at my wedding. I love watching little ones run around at weddings. They have so much fun, at my brothers wedding all my little cousins enjoyed themselves. I also wouldn't be able to leave them out. My oldest first cousin is 40 but the youngest who is also my ring bearer is 7. Not to mention my cousins who have kids, they range from 4-13. Then there are my nieces. Fh has kids on his side but Fmil doesn't want us to invite them. That's their choice. I want my whole family there kids and all.
