they suck! It's like you are in jail for 8 hours a day! Worked there for a week and just did not like the fact that the only fresh air I got was my lunch break!

I dont know about kiddie academy...but my sis has worked for tutor time for years and they are right on top of things there. ALways have to chart everything and sanitize I would feel comfy putting my babies in there one day! The only thing...my sister when she first started to work there, got sick once a month from all the kids...but she is pretty restistant to any virus thats out there right now. LIttle kids get sick all the time in day care facilities, just becuase they are around many diff people. If you decide to put the baby in day care it would help alot if you breast feed ( if you can)....so that the baby get immunities from you!

COngratulations by the way!!!

i agree..my nephew was in one in suffolk..FM me to find out where, and he was about 3 at the time..the kids were sent home with a note telling parents not to let their children play with any stickers they may have gotten from school that day because supposedly there was acid on the back of them! can u imagine?!
this was YEARS ago (like 8 years) but still, i couldnt do it.

Re: Kiddie Academy

kiddie academy was terrible. i worked there for two weeks and left b/c of some of the stuff i saw (leaving a 1 year old in time out for 10 minutes, grabbing and screaming in a kid's face, leaving people who shouldn't be alone alone with the kids, being over ratio), plus they treat a good majority of their employees like crap.

no day care is ideal, but the ymca in bay shore is the best one i've worked at so far in nys. you also may wanna check into small privately owned daycares as they are usually more personal and have to stay on top of their stuff, though be careful with some of those too as sometimes they're so small they slip under the radar. tell you friend to ask if she can hang out there for a day and see what's going on. if they're a good company, they shouldn't have a problem with it.

Re: Kiddie Academy

I am fortunate enough to be able to be a SAHM, but I have had friends work at Kiddie Academy. They promote people to 'teacher' after taking a 5 hour course given by them. Even then, the teachers would often leave my friend, who at the time was only 16, alone in the room with 15 - 20 kids for hours at a time.

Also, a few years back, there was a report of a child being left in a classroom on a friday afternoon. The mom went to pick him up and the place was locked up tight....

I just don't get a good vibe from it all.
