The hospital where Jennifer Lopez is set to give birth will be put on high alert over fears of a kidnapping attempt.

The hospital where Jennifer Lopez will give birth has been put on kidnap alert.
Staff at Long Island's North Shore Medical Center took part in a Code Pink security drill on Friday (08.02.08), which involves locking down the hospital if a baby goes missing, according to gossip website TMZ.com.

Jennifer, who is reportedly expecting twins with husband Marc Anthony, is due to give birth today (14.02.08).
One friend said: 'Jennifer has spoken so much about how excited she is about the birth that anyone who is considering a kidnapping knows how far she would be willing to go to get her babies back.

'The hospital will be on high alert when Jennifer comes in to give birth, and have practised the Code Pink drill just in case they need to put it into practice.'

Soooooooooooooo... all this because they are famous babies? So if another kid gets kidnapped no biggie?

From what I knowthey have this security in place for ALL babies not just celebrities. I think because there will be a famous baby there they are now making it known but it was always in place. FH's cousin recently gave birth there (Dec. 29th) and we went to visit them. Well when I saw the baby I commented on the funny ankle thing they had on her and they explained that it is a sensor, and if the baby gets past a certain point, the hospital alarms go off and all the doors automatically lock. So I don't think this is just for J Lo.

I'm sure it's just since she is higher profile and so many people at this point know where she is delivering. My good friends are labor and delivery nurses and they told me hospitals do take great measures for everyone. the babies have little lo-jack type systems put on them. Some hospitals have it on belly button clips others on a leg. what happens is if it is taken off the baby or if a baby is being taken out off the floor the elevators shut off alarms go off. Since she is so high profile and so in the public light it's probably a higher risk. I do feel bad that she would have to take extra precautions, I don't think anyone deserves that.

I think theyre being a little extreme. Ive never heard of any other celebrity couples doing this or maybe they just havent ADVERTISED it as much as jlo is...

I am sure they are just advertisting it more. People like to point out how she is over the top with demands and I guess when you have a reputation for that they will report every fart you blow.

I am sure they have this security with all hospitals with all babies. I just think it is a little ridiculous. Who cares first off if they are giving birth there. Good for them that they are finally having children. But honestly she is not that important in my life that I would care if they added a freaking suite for her in the hopsital. It is a waste of money. And who is just going to steal JLos babies. Well I mean we do have crazies in this world.

but come on now...shouldnt think alert be publicized for any child? I mean why would a hospital take so much precaution for a celebrities baby shouldnt all babies be important and be carefully securied so no one can kidnap them?!
