Kids at the shower??

Kids at the shower??

How do you ladies feel about this? One of my BM was going to bring her 14 month old daughter (my god-daughter) and apparently my MOH insulted her via e-mail by writing 'she can come but she's your responsibility, don't expect anyone else to watch her'. IMO, my MOH (my very inexperienced sister) should have CALLED and said that no other children were expected.
HELP!!

ETA, oh..and the problem with it is that my father is worried that my cousins would be insulted because their kids weren't allowed to come!

The special relationship you have with the mother being your BM & this little girl (your god daughter) should help other guests get over not having their children invited.

I can see where your BM was annoyed by the email - I am sure she is very aware that her child is her responsibility.

I personally don't want kids at my shower. Sometimes they can be cute little helpers until they start tearing into the pile of unopened gifts (which I've seen happen) and then start crying whne they're told the gifts aren't for them!

i have been informed through the grapevine that certain adults only things are going to happen at my shower
so kids are definatley not invited
( thinks she better start saving $1 bills - lmao)

I personally think a shower is another one of those 'mostly for adult' things. They can be so boring and tedious, imagine how a child would feel?! I guess it's a matter of personal preference. She would certainly be an exception, being as she is your god-daughter.

The e-mail sounds rude. I can see how she would be insulted at the inference that she doesn't take care of her kid.

I think that is completely up to you. I had a 13 year old cousin and FH's 9 year old niece was at my shower.. I also have a 7 year old niece but she lives in Texas.. But if she was here in NY then my niece definitely would have been at my bridal shower being my 'right hand girl' But that is just how I feel. I think it is completely a personal opinion and I don't think you should worry about what anyone else says. This is your wedding and you are doing exactly what you want. And the comment that no one else is going to take care of her baby for her was a little stupid. i don't think any mother who thinks that someone else can take care of their child for them at a party is stupid. Do what you want to...not what you think others want or say you should do.

I had three young girls (6-9) at my shower and they were so excited to be there. They did not get in the way at all. My mom even bought them special little favors. She bought each of them a bride barbie as a favor. I thought it was great that they were there to share it with me.

There were a few children at my shower, I don't think anyone really noticed them at all.
FI's goddaughter 'helped' me open gifts, that was about it.
