Re: Kids at wedding...
I agree, and was a little bit sad that there wont be a few little kids at the wedding but unless we would know for sure ahead of time how many kids would definitely come we cant do it. We are already paying alot for this wedding and to pay $90 per kid for chicken fingers and french fries is a bit much. If it were a few thats fine but were having a wedding with 350-400 guests that can result in many kids coming. BUt I also dont have any young nieces and nephews or little cousins

maybe that is why i am so passionate about this - i currently have two nieces and two nephews - who are my life . . .
FH has a lot of little first cousins but he could care less if they come or not - BUT we figured if we are inviting all these little ones from MY side we cant leave out HIS side. . .
maybe if the kids in question were just distant cousins or just children of friends - i wouldnt care and therefore i would have no problem not inviting them!

Yeah you're right. I dont have close kids to me at the moment in my family. I do adore kids and think it would be great to have them there. But like i said at $90 a kid, if god forbid 30 kids come, plus adding the tables and center pieces it will be quite a few thousand more. Plus my ch starts at 7:30 and reception starts at 8:30 and ends at 1:30am, i dont think a kid should be there then

We're vey close to our nieces and nephews. Just because we don't want kids at our reception doesn't mean we don't love them to pieces and aren't close to them... but we don't feel it's appropriate to have kids at the sort of party we want to have.

Their parents willmost likely take them home before that. If it was coming out to less per kid then i would think about it, i think that matters alot. RHs differ what they charge and some people dont have to pay alot for kids and others do

LOL maybe i should mention that too - FH and I are going to be so under our minimum anyway. . . we may have to recruit people to come to our wedding - so there is another reason why it is easier for me to say i will be inviting our 20 kids

The reality is that kids run around. It really depends on your relationship with the kids and their behavior. I had my 13-year old cousin, who is mature. Someone brought their baby, which is rude, but the baby was quiet and you didn't see him at all. Also, little girls love to hang all over the bride, which can be annoying.

Re: Kids at wedding...
I agee with every valid reason that has been brought up. I my opinion, kids do not belong at a formal event. Some people think that they need to schlep their kids everywhere they go. There is limited space at my RH. Why would I invite little kids if Im' not even inviting people from work to cut down my list?? My nephew and FH's nephew will be ring bearers, and they are the only children invited. Most of my cousins have children, and they make arrangements to get a babysitter for every wedding. I don't think it's appropriate to bring children to an event that they don't even know the signifigance of!

Because if you let one come then you have to let them all come. An evening wedding that goes until 1am is no place for a child.
Exactly. I love my nephew but he is 2 1/2. He will be in the middle of the dance floor (which is a little small) in everyone's way. I love him, and think he's cute but it's a handful to deal with until midnight.
