Re: kids at wedding
i only invited kids that were first cousins, and of course my niece and nephew. It really depends how many kids you're talking about and how many people you'd like to invite total.

Re: kids at wedding
we decided not to and one of FHs aunts flipped out that her grandson would not be invited and is now not speaking to us....but the whole family was behind us with our decision but OMG the drama that decision caused! But I am so happy that we stuck to our guns and said no kids and stuck to immediate family and did not extend it to second cousins.

Re: kids at wedding
we are having kids- well we only have 3 and there are like 5 kids under 2. they are coming from a far distance and to exclude their children would've meant that they wouldn't have been able to attend at all. we are actually really excited to meet these little kids! also, we are allowing them to use the bridal suite to change them and take care of them when they get upset...

Re: kids at wedding
We had kids at our wedding, we had face painting and sand art for them, it kept them busy for 2 hours. They had there own table, and really had a good time.

Re: kids at wedding
We didn't really have any little kids close enough to us that we had any issues with it. The youngest kid at my wedding was DH's little cousin who was my jbm, she was 13.

Re: kids at wedding
We are having 3 under 10 (my cousin, 2 of his cousins) and 1 under 5 (flowergirl). The rest of our guests will be age 16 and up. We didn't want a lot of kids, but we had to have our cousins, because some are out of town and their parents really wouldn't have any place to leave them. Thankfully they are all very well-behaved children.

Re: kids at wedding
I said no... I think if DH's brothers had kids I would have felt differently. But all kids are first cousins or beyond. Adding kids for us wouldn't have added 4 or 5 kids... even if I had limited to just kids of close family members it would have meant adding 26 kids minimum. That was 24 more kids then I wanted at the wedding. I wanted DH's cousins (twin girls) to be flower girls, but it was to much of an issue to have them and not his other cousins, so we didn't even have them.
I would figure out what it means to add kids, where is the cut off for them on the family tree, how many does it mean?
Also my reception was black tie and went to midnight, so it wasn't really child appropriate. It depends on your timeline and the style of your wedding as well.
Also know who the kids are. There is nothing worse then that obnoxious child in the middle of the dance floor who thinks they are the center of attention. At my friends wedding all the adults sat down because the two boys were taking up so much room on the dance floor we couldn't dance. At another friends wedding the little girl was demanding to be the center of attention and upset the bride. So you have to know what your getting with the kids.

I had no problems with it and the kids had a wonderful time dancing with each other and enjoying the candy buffet i had. They went a bit crazy at one point but calmed down lol

Re: kids at wedding
I have a bunch of kids coming!!
I laid the law to my brothers girlfriend they have a 7 yo and 4 yo that if her kids get crazy they will be asked to leave. Her kids are the WORST behaving kids I have EVER seen. The word NO doesn't exist in their mothers vocabulary. She is making arrangements to have her kids picked up early.
My other problem is all the teenagers that will be at my wedding. Between the older ones trying to sneak drinks and the catty girls!! UGH we should have eloped

Re: kids at wedding
To make life easier, set a rule or guideline and go by that.
For our family, we did no kids except if they were from OOT bc obviously who where they gonna get to watch them?

Re: kids at wedding
the only really young kids we had were flower gril & ring bearer & their siblings who were in their teens & that was it. No kids for us - we didnt want to have to worry about them running all over or getting into things they shouldnt. It's totally personal preference - but we just preferred to have an adult wedding only.
