kids at wedding

is anyone else having trouble deciding to have kids at your reception? help

We had it easy. Neither one of us has any neices or nephews so saying 'no' to kids made it easy. My cousins on my mom's side all have adult children already and my cousins on my dad's side the youngest is 28.

we are having the kids that are in the bp only. FH's nieces and nephews. there's 4 little ones all together.

Honestly i can see why people get annoyed when there's a lot of kids running around. sometimes they can be in the way etc. but i also think it's cute that they are there all dressed up and just having fun. id prefer it to be just close immediate family member kids only.

i did give a few people the option of bringing their kid... but no one wants to anyway. they want to party. and i want it to be a kid free adult type of party. again though im super excited for the nieces and nephew to be there... but that's it, haha!

If anyone ever decides to start responding, with just 5 days left there will be kids. On my side, my cousin is 16, and third cousins (if they end up coming) range from 13/14-19. My sister is 20 and my FSIL is 19, so I don't count them as 'kids' (and at 24, who am I to talk?).

FH's side has a ton of kids, that I had no choice but to invite per FMIL. His 3 first cousins, which is fine, but then we have 25 other children on the list (anyone under 20 I'm counting as a child). 4 of which said no so far, and the his first cousin who's 3 is't coming. But we still have 20 other kids that haven't responded yet, and 6 aren't even related to us at all, they're the nieces and nephews in laws of FH's uncle and aunt, come on now. Whatever...I'm still way under my minimum, and probably only the kids will end up coming with their parents and no other adults, so it'll just be a 3 ring circus. Most of the children are pre-teen, just would be 2 under the age of 10 I think. 4 we know can't come because of a prior commitment, but had to send the courtesy invite anyways.

I basically didn't have much of a choice. We wouldn't have had enough bodies without the kids, and in FH's family I'd get shot if I put my foot down and said no.

I invited all the kids of any adult who attended. 99% of them chose to leave them home because they wanted a night out on their own. In the end only my first cousins (2) and the kids of some family who were from out of state (2) came. And it worked out because they kept each other company in the back of the room. Even if they were annoying I wouldn't have noticed because I was too busy dancing and eating to care.

I laid the law to my brothers girlfriend they have a 7 yo and 4 yo that if her kids get crazy they will be asked to leave. Her kids are the WORST behaving kids I have EVER seen. The word NO doesn't exist in their mothers vocabulary. She is making arrangements to have her kids picked up early.

My other problem is all the teenagers that will be at my wedding. Between the older ones trying to sneak drinks and the catty girls!! UGH we should have eloped

You crack me up. You are so right those kids are awful. I will bounce them brats out.
