How are each of you handling inviting kids? I was thinking of doing a 12 year old age cut off... but no matter what I plan on doing someone will not be happy!

Re: Kids or No Kids?
We decided to not have kids - I think 18 is the youngest (other than my flowergirls)
You can't make everyone happy...if anyone got insulted we just explained that we had to cut somewhere and we can't make exceptions without insulting others.

We have a 12 yr old cut off - that way FH's god daughter will be able to attend. We had people ask about their kids coming and we just told them no.

we are not having any kids at all!!! i think the cut off age will be 16. if we were to invite some younger kids then u have to invite them all, and i have heard horror stories! the easiest way is to not invite them under a certain age.

The only kids that will be there are the ones in the bridal party. Anyone else who asks, I'll just tell them no.

Re: Kids or No Kids?
We originally had said no kids, but then we decided it's our wedding and we will invite whatever children we want and leave out whichever we want. And I don't care who likes it or who hates it. It's MY wedding. Wow, I'm a beyotch!

Re: Kids or No Kids?
we invited all kids... all ages... I don't want to tell a family that they cannot have their kids there... some couples opted not to bring their kids, but it's their choice...

Re: Kids or No Kids?
We had kids and it was fine. They were the life of the party at times. They all happened to be kids of family but kids of some friends were invited too but ended up not being able to come to the wedding.

NO WAY TO KIDS!!
I have a HUGE italian family. i am the oldest grandchild and i have 20-something FIRST cousins on ONE SIDE. it would be mayhem. we decided to not invite cousins period! ( although i have 3 that are my age that i socialize with so they are coming)
My FH has a niece and nephew my FN and FN, they are 10 and 12. they will be going.
ive offended so many people during this process, but i did what i wanted.

Re: Kids or No Kids?
Just say no.
I expect up to 3 kids, and only because they would be travelling with their parents over 1,000 miles to get here.
I fully expect complaints, people to be offended, etc. Although I think it sounds like porn, 'Adult reception' will probably appear on my invites. That way, my wishes will be made crystal clear.

You can't please everyone.
We are having all kids because honestly, we don't care. We want everyone to be there and to celebrate our date and we don't want people to come because we aren't allowing children. It's more important to us that people be there.

Re: Kids or No Kids?
We invited all the kids to the wedding. We had about 15 of them come. The parents with the really young one's, like 7 and under didn't bring them because they wanted to enjoy there night out. I think the youngest kid there was 7. People really appreciated it that I gave them the option of bringing the kids!!

Re: Kids or No Kids?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
I'm sorry but I have such strong opinions about this. I've already gotten a lot of s#%*t over this. I'm the youngest grandchild... one of my cousin's has 8 kids and that's just him and his wife! We did the math... kids under 12 alone would increase our 100 person guest list by 50%. YEs there would be 51 children.
I WAITED 34 YEARS TO GET MARRIED AND I TEACH HS. NO KIDS AT MY WEDDING. GRRRRRRRRR....
My cousins immediately gave me grief over this which got me crazy. When they all got married there were no kids and no kids at their wedding.
It's not a birthday party... it's a wedding. I'm not paying $150 a head so they can eat chicken fingers and run around on sugar highs.

Re: Kids or No Kids?
I had such a tough time with that issue. I have nannied with this one family since i was 15 and the kids have become a BIG part of my life so i wanted them to come to the wedding and reception. Once my MIL heard i was having them she started saying well uncle bob won't come unless his kids can come. To shut her up i had the kids come and put them at their own table. SOme how it really worked out well. All of the kids had a blast and were well behaved.

No kids allowed.. youngest person will be 17, FH's cousin and she is in the wedidng party..
We really don't have any kids in the family, so it's not really an issue.

Re: Kids or No Kids?
We had 1 kid and it was my flower girl. We had people annoyed at us, but we did not want kids at our wedding. They got over it. I was at a wedding and there were kids and it was a DISASTER. They were acting up during the ceromony and reception, it is now all over there wedding tape. I love kids, but do not think they belong at a wedding. When i was little I was not invited to weddings. I went to my first wedding when I was 16 years old. This is just my opinion.
