Re: kids or no kids
as i kid i wasnt invited to the weddings of my aunts and uncles...
so they are all going to have to accept that me and FH also decided to only have the kids who are in the bridal party at the wedding.

Re: kids or no kids
it's true. The only kids we're inviting are FH's nephews and that's because they are his nephews. I don't really have any kids on my side of the family so we were ok there but FH has a zillion little cousins and we decided not to invite any of them because it's not fair to only invite the ones you can stand, lol. I think their parents will actually enjoy a night away from their kids anyway, his sister was trying to get us to uninvite his nephews!

i agree invite one invite all... or make a specific cut off on whos invited... see im the baby on my side of the family so all of my 1st cousins (in their late 30's-40's) have children, 20 in total... and FH is the oldest in his family so all his 1st cousins are young... youngest will be 10 by the time of the wedding so we are making the cut off at 1st cousins... that justifies his family and not mine. so thats how we are doing it...

Well just to warn you some people might get offended if they were told not to bring their kids and they see kids there. But if its just kids in the bp then most people should be understanding.
Trust me I know what a PITA this whole thing can be. FI doesn't want kids at the wedding, but the problem is that a decent amount of people we are inviting have kids. We're already dealing with **** because of this.

Re: kids or no kids
See I really dont want too many kids there... (is that mean too say) There are 2 ringbearers both under the age of five and their mom said she is getting a sitter for them. Which leaves my one cousin who will be 15 as a junior bridesmaid and my other cousin who is 11...... I really dont want any other cousins or children of friends there..... My family thinks im totally being mean... but it makes sense to me... am i the only one???

Re: kids or no kids
You shouldn't feel bad. Some people don't realize that it can end up costing quite alot more money depending on how many kids come. The real young ones are free but other than that they are half price. If you aren't paying alot pp maybe it's not that bad but if you are then you are paying alot of money to feed them chicken fingers. Not only that but if you have a decent amount of kids coming then you're going to have to add more tables and then pay for extra centerpieces and so on. Alot of guests dont sit there and think of that.
Then people say hire a sitter, well that costs money too and one sitter can only take care of like 7 kids about i think it is, if you have like 20-30 kids then you have to hire a couple of sitters. AHHH it can get annoying, and I am a person who loves kids lol

you are definitely not being mean! Kids can be a hassle at weddings, I don't really think they belong there. We're not even having a RB or a FG.

Re: kids or no kids
The only children that will be there are the one's in the BP, in fact noone under 21... No plus one's for our guest unless they're married, engaged, or living together.. We want a really intimate affair

Re: kids or no kids
We have 4 kids in our BP cause FH wanted those kids to be invited , i personally feel that first it's so late to have kids there our reception is from 7pm till 1 am , then i know alot of people who want to enjoy themselves not feeling like they are tripping over little ones on the dance floor , i agree , i went to a wedding where kids were and parents actually brought toys for them to play well remote control cars were on the dance floor and it wasn't fun

I say NO KIDS!!!! I am not paying 60 bucks for chicken fingers and fries!!! The only kid coming is my nephew, and everyone needs to understand he is my only nephew, thats why hes invited.

just want to let you know--that no matter what....this WILL be one of the issues you deal with in wedding planning. the key is to stick with what you decide. if you say only BP kids, that's fine. just make sure you don't waiver.
trust me when i say no matter how much notice you gives friends & relatives ahead of time...a few months before your wedding....there will be ppl who try and slide their kids by, and may even make you feel guilty for not inviting THEIR children. when it comes to the kid issue, weddings can bring out the worst in people.
i've had 3 all out fights with my brother about kids (he wants his invited, no matter what) and a few spats with FH about his brothers bringing their 6 kids combined. the kid issue has caused stress!
ultimately, if you don't want them, don't feel bad. no disprespect to any ladies who are welcoming all children to their weddings, but i personally do NOT want them at mine and will not feel bad about it. i never went to weddings as a child and i was okay with it! lol

Re: kids or no kids
I really do not want small children, like 4 and under at my ceremony, the last thing i want is a crying or screaming child during my ceremony. FH's cousin just had a baby. she lives in florida, how can i get around inviting her without her young child? Its honestly not the money, my hall is charging 25 a kid. wich is peanuts. its just i want quiet during my ceremony!
