So, you may or may not know that I teach Freshman comp.

On the first day of class we go around the room... everyone says their name and tells us something interesting about them...

One student says that his hobbies include 'smoking weed and having my d*ck ******'

WHEN DID THAT BECOME APPROPRIATE TO SAY IN A CLASSROOM?

I would report to your dept head. That ain't right. I would TOTALLY complain if a kid in my freshman class at UCLA said that. Is there a councilor you can refer him to?

I agree with the above poster about reporting it. This should definitely go on record. What if he continues to be vulgar, or worse? If he is not shy about saying something sooo inappropriate and vulgar on the first day of class - in front of everyone -, he may continue. If he says stuff that to female students, could it be considered sexual harrassment? The head of the dept. should know.

I totally would have kicked him out...I am not surprised...I dont think I would be that shocked if one of my third graders said that...what kind of world do we live in????

Wow, I remember being the class clown for laughs but I don't even think something like that would ever have crossed my mind to say. That is such a lack of respect.
