Kids Table at the Wedding?

Kids Table at the Wedding?

What do you think of having a 'Kids Table' at your wedding? As many of you know I have a 12 year old daughter. So we will be inviting many of our Family and Friends children. I was thinking of setting up two (2) tables for the kiddies 6 and up. This way they are together already instead of driving their parents crazy trying to sit with one another. Would you do this if you had a similar situation such as me? Any ideas for special items on their tables? Centerpiece just for the kids??? if you got ideas I'd love to hear them

how about a centerpiece made of candy? like getting that flower foam stuff as a base and sticking lollipops in it arranged like 'flowers' but it's CANDY!

I think it's a great idea, as long as they're ok without any adults at the table....especially around knives

It migt be fun to have crayons and some color-able placemats.....you know, the ones at some restaurants that have mazes and word searches, etc. Or paper table cloths to color on instead of regular table cloths.

This is really cute

It sounds like a good idea, but I might check with the parents first to see if they think their children are mature enough to sit alone. This might vary from kid to kid. Also ask your RH about crayons, markers, etc before hand. I know some nice restaurants don't allow anything like this because they worry about the kids damaging things, so the same might apply at some RH's. If they say it's ok, I think it sounds like a good idea to keep the kids busy.

Before you make definitive plans to sit them at a separate table, I'd ask a few of their parents. Some of them might not be so comfortable with it, so you might just want to be sure. Also, make sure you don't sit them too close to an exit, because kids love to explore and will be in and out of that room a million times. I teach 6th grade (11-12 year olds) and they aren't so much into coloring anymore as they are into playing games. I think the crayons and stuff would be good for the little kids, but at 11 and 12 they are dying to be treated like adults. For the younger ones, perhaps their silverware and plates can be set with bare minimums to give them some play/color space. Give the table with the older kids a deck of cards, or UNO. They would still enjoy the candy centerpiece and party favors. Necklaces, glow in the dark things, erasers, pencils, etc. You can buy that stuff for pretty cheap at Party City. I hope this helps.

I agree with the others, check with parents first. I have a similar thing and the ages range, so I didn't want to just do it. I decided to leave the 6 and under with parents and group the others - 1 table. Here are some pics I have of CPs

i think it depends a lot on their ages and behavior quality. 12 is definitely old enough to sit alone! but if a lot of the kids are younger, you don't want her to feel like she is babysitting the other kids, either. all the kids we're having at the wedding are more in the 6 to 9 years old range, so I think I'm just going to put them with their individual parents, however that ends up.... decisions decisions!!
