kids' totes

I am making up a few tote bags for the kids (my sister has 4, my FBIL has 2). besides coloring books and crayons, can anybody think of anything else to add? Things that lend themselves to quiet moments - as opposed to things that can be - thrown for example....and of course cheap. I dont' want to spend a fortune on them!

Re: kids' totes

I read this in a magazine-- disposable cameras. They said that kids will take pictures from a whole different perspective.

Re: kids' totes

I used stickers/sticker books and puzzle books and they were very useful.

Re: kids' totes

Have you tried Oriental Trading? They are cheap and have toys as well as game/coloring books. Another benefit is you don't always have to buy each toy individually, since you will be buying for a few children.

Re: kids' totes

I just finished my ringbearers and flowergirl totes tonight. I got them little embroidered totes with their names on them from Lands End ($15 each). I filled them with coloring books, crayons, stickers, notepads, little toys from the $ store, and lollipops. I got them other gifts too, but this is to keep them busy at church.
Continued success to all...

Heather

Heather,
What are you doing about having the kids around during the reception? I was thinking about using one of those side rooms at the Carlyle, but I dont know how long I'll be able to keep them occupied in there!

Yours must be coming up pretty soon! You're getting there........

Re: Heather

We are not having any really young children(because nobody has any)but at my cousins wedding there were a bunch & she paid a teenage cousin to entertain them after the bag of toys got old. I think she had a second stock of crafty toys like stickers & stuff. The teenage girl just sort of kept them at their table until there was a song they could dance to. Good luck

We are not having any kids at the wedding. The flower children will leave after they are announced during the beginning of the reception. I think it's too complicated for the parents to have their young children there. Of course this is just my opinion, but I think the side rooms are too small for the kids to hang out in without a tv or movie to entertain them for the entire time. The tote is just for the church so they don't get bored during the ceremony. Just 5 days to go!

Re: kids' totes

I've collected a bunch of stuff for the 'kids table'. I was also worried about things they could throw. I got some slinkies which are pretty harmless, and those bubbles on a necklace along with some of the other stuff you mentioned.

Congratulations and good luck with everything.

Re: kids' totes

Candy ring would be cute.
Colorforms or legos are also a good idea. They also sell travel size games pretty cheap. Just be careful not to get any thing with a ball (to get bounced during your reception) or things that are very messy. Also, be careful about ages. A 2 year old should not have gum.

Cute idea!
