so now that i'm married, i went over to HR and asked to update my status (and my name) but they said they can't update my name in the system (my login account to company software, my email addy, etc) until i legally change it at the SS office (which i can't do till january because of trips i have planned) ....
i won't have a new name at work until 2011
sucks ... but i like my maiden name better so maybe it's a blessing in disguise

I don't think it's just your job- I think it's the law. It was the same thing for me. It wasn't even good enough that I changed my name at the SS office, I had to wait for the card to come in 2 weeks later.

you can still change it w SS at work. just dont change your license or passport yet for the trips

yeah my job needs my new SS card and marriage cert to do it... but they didnt need anything to add Shaun to my insurance which had to be done with in 31 days of the wedding

When I got my job my SS card showed my old married name and I applied under my maiden name- I just needed to show my divorce papers. Cant you just show your marriage cert?

You can get a new SS card and NOT change driver license/passport. I'm not changing license until December but already did SS and marriage license so my company DID change my name.

Yeah, that's not just your job, It's the law.... but hey at least you get to keep your maiden name for a while!!!!!!!
